More and more of our lives are shaped by what we see online. For young men in particular, social media can be a place to find advice, community, and a sense of direction. But not all of that content is harmless.

The “manosphere” is a term used to describe a group of online spaces that focus on masculinity, relationships, and self-improvement. While some of this content can seem relatable or even helpful at first, it can also promote harmful ideas about women, relationships, and what it means to be a man. Over time, these messages can affect how young people see themselves and others.

Over the last year, All Together Now has been working with a group of young people to co-design Unplug the Hate, a campaign that promotes reflection, active allyship, and healthier conversations around harmful online content.

The young people have developed a series of articles to unpack the appeal of these spaces and the impact of the harmful narratives they often promote.

Understanding these spaces is the first step to support young people and promote respectful and healthy attitudes. Check out this article explained what the manosphere is: https://alltogethernow.org.au/our-work/far-right-extremism/design-against-hate-resources-what-is-the-manosphere/

How real is the far-right threat in Australia? It’s real. It’s significant. And it’s growing, right here in our own backyard.

But so is something else: community awareness, resilience, and the courage to stand against hate. Join our Countering Far-Right Extremism workshop on 21 May and gain practical tools to respond confidently and effectively.

What you’ll learn:

💡 Recognise and unpack far-right narratives, including sub-ideologies like accelerationism, sovereign citizens, and the "incel" movement, while understanding the intersectional nature of their hate (racism, misogyny, ableism and anti-LGBTQIA+)

💡 Spot early warning signs of radicalisation, both online and offline

💡 Build confidence to engage in difficult conversations and challenge harmful views

💡 Practical strategies to de-escalate and counter extremist messaging

It takes less than 30 minutes for social media to start recommending misogynistic content to young people.

That’s why young people partnered with us to create Unplug the Hate, a campaign using posters and coasters to spark reflection, support active allyship, and encourage healthier conversations.

These materials are designed to live in everyday spaces like cafés, bars, and libraries — meeting people where they already are.

The International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (IDERD) is a call to reflect on our biases, deepen our understanding, and take a stand against racism in Australia.

Framing this day as “Harmony Day” solely around celebration masks the reality of structural and systemic racism that still exists in Australia. It may discourage people from speaking up about racism because it can be seen as opposing a “harmonious” society.

To eliminate discrimination and racism, we have to name it. We can’t fix what we don’t acknowledge.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼?
𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗶𝘁 𝗼𝘂𝘁: Don't let casual racism or harmful stereotypes slide.
𝗨𝗻𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻: Commit to thinking critically about your own biases and where they come from.
𝗟𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻: Elevate the voices of those who experience racism daily.

After the Bondi attack, misinformation continues to spread - here's how to stop it.

Moments of fear and uncertainty can quickly become breeding grounds for misinformation and harmful narratives, which can fuel division and prejudice.

Here are a few things to look out for before engaging with or sharing content online:

1. Check the source of information - Is it a verified and trustworthy outlet or an unknown account?

2. Understand what you’re reading - look for facts rather than opinions. Question personal biases.

3. Research beyond the initial source - dig deeper and investigate thoroughly before making a conclusion.

4. Evaluate and compare with multiple sources - look for credible sources.

Now more than ever, let’s stand together against and .

As Invasion Day (January 26) approaches, take a moment to reflect, imagine and connect.

For young people navigating questions of identity, belonging and purpose in today’s digital world — IMAGINE is a story that will truly resonate.

IMAGINE is a groundbreaking Indigenous Australian animated film screening in cinemas nationwide for one day only on January 26.

Created by Indigenous storytellers Jack Manning Bancroft and Tyson Yunkaporta, IMAGINE is unlike anything audiences have seen before, a visually stunning, co-created animated journey that blends Indigenous knowledge, cutting-edge technology, and a story that speaks across generations.

The film follows Kim, a 15-year-old non-binary kid overwhelmed by the noise of the modern world, who is pulled into a 24-hour adventure across surreal landscapes, guided by an alien dog, Aboriginal Elders, and big questions about humanity, our planet, and the kind of ancestors we want to be. Featuring voice performances from Taika Waititi, Yolande Brown, Taylor Schilling, Ian Thorpe, Kate Mulgrew, and many more, IMAGINE is both playful and profound.
