NEW DATA: The latest release by the Australian Bureau of Statistics shows that in women’s most recent incident of physical assault, the perpetrator was most often a family member or intimate partner (44%), and about half of the assaults occurred in a home (48%).
This reflects what WCS has long observed and what decades of research confirm: women are at heightened risk of violence, most commonly from men they know, in the home.
