Community Service
Community service can be both challenging and rewarding. In time past and in different community rolls I have witnessed and experienced considerable frustration on committee (as you do) due largely to the different reasons – I call them motivational factors –people became involved on committee. In contrast and in more recent times it has been only a pleasure to work with Salvat
ion Army Dural Corps Red Shield Appeal team of volunteers with their soul purpose of ‘giving’ to help those with special needs. The People
Likewise throughout 2014 and 2015 it was an absolute pleasure to share the laughs as well as the work with a wonderful group of people from the Chinese Association , who were motivated only to provide for those with needs and to offer entertainment and companionship opportunities to people – of all cultural backgrounds – within the local community. It has been personally rewarding and a great ‘life’ learning experience for me working under the leadership team of people the caliber of Ken Yap, Peter Lai and Sarah Chan and because they and others of Chinese heritage welcomed and embraced both Terri and myself in such a way we have gained many new –life long – friends, for which we are most grateful. We now wish to share this same opportunity with other members of our community. Our committees are already rich in cultures and will only grow further as the Associations activities increase. We hope you will consider joining our family of friends when the membership campaign gets underway mid May. Keep in Touch
In closing wish to say I am truly humbled and honoured to lead this wonderful group of people with such unselfish and community caring aspirations. I urge you to follow our website over the coming months to learn more about the people involved and the events and activities being planned by our newly formed Association. Support us by joining us.
