For stingless bees, pests often target weak colonies, removing fragile genetics from moving forward and preventing those traits from being passed on. It’s nature’s way of culling the weakest and protecting long-term colony strength.

Thank you for choosing a BoB Box from Billion Bees.
We design our hives to last and support strong, healthy stingless bee colonies for many years.
Your BoB Box includes:
✔ 15-year structural warranty
✔ 5-year colony replacement guarantee
2. CONDITIONS FOR WARRANTY & COLONY REPLACEMENT
These conditions protect the hive, the colony, and the environment.
2.1 Hive Placement & Stability
• Must remain in original approved position.
• Must stay perfectly horizontal.
• Notify Billion Bees if connected to weaker hive.
• Do not move hive without approval.
2.2 No Modifications or Opening of the Hive
• No internal/external modifications.
• Do not remove stainless steel roof.
• Brood must never be disturbed.
• No propolis removal.
2.3 Honey Extraction (After 24 Months Only)
• No extraction within first 24 months.
• Must follow Billion Bees instructions.
2.4 Prohibited Uses
• No commercial pollination.
• No splitting or brood transfer.
2.5 Pesticides & Chemicals
• Lock bees night before.
• Remove hive for minimum 3 days.
3. HIVE RELOCATION CONDITIONS
• Contact Billion Bees before moving hive.
• Only move within endemic areas.
• Moving without approval voids warranty.
4. OWNER MAINTENANCE FOR 15-YEAR WARRANTY
• Yearly linseed oil treatment.
• Submit annual photo.
• Submit annual 1-minute spring flight video.
5. OWNER RESPONSIBILITIES
• Maintain safe shaded location.
• Protect from heat, flooding, water spray.

• Hive modification/opening.
• Brood disturbance.
• Incorrect honey extraction.
• Chemical exposure.
• Relocation without approval.

The average industry box is about 4L, this is ok if you can feed bees with stingless bee honey, if not we find it’s easier to give the bees the extra space as they do in nature.

As more schools are participating with our new propagation program, the clear winners are not only the bees but our partners where the bees will be eventually be relocated once colony is established. Kids at this school can now enjoy the activity of bees building a new colony from the very beginning. There is also an option to safely taste some stingless honey by minimising bee losses. With the honey frames you can now enjoy uncontaminated stingless bee honey. Kids are super excited. We are proud to be able to offer a BoB box that has revolutionised the stingless bee industry. Schools who are reaching out to be part of this initiative. We will eventually get you all involved. If I have missed some please reply back. The response is amazing. Here is one that will be connected to our BoB box to eventually be placed in areas of need. Especially areas like Port Macquarie! A big plus for the industry to showcase where the box design is heading. The kids here will not only be able to see the activity of bees building a new colony from the start but also be able to taste the honey without causing any harm by utilising the Australian patent stingless bee honey frames. 🐝 A huge thank you to Holloway Removals & Storage 🐝

The Billion Bees Foundation extends our heartfelt thanks to Holloway Removals & Storage for their incredible support throughout the Black Summer Bushfire Recovery Program — the largest project ever undertaken in Australia for our native stingless bees.

This initiative, funded by a Federal Grant, could only succeed through the generosity and collaboration of family-owned Australian businesses who believed in our mission to give nature back the upper hand.

From start to finish, the logistics were immense — coordinating the delivery of BoB boxes and materials across NSW and QLD, getting flat packs to Mensheds, and ensuring completed hives reached their new homes on public and private land. Through it all — COVID, two major floods, and three consecutive La Niña years — we were fortunate to have reliable partners like Holloway Removals, who made the impossible, possible.

We met so many passionate people who contributed their time, land, and skills, and this project simply wouldn’t have been such a success without these partnerships.

Holloway’s nationwide reach gave us reassurance when it mattered most. Every BoB box and piece of equipment was handled with genuine care, stored safely at no cost, and always made accessible when needed. Their large Sydney-based warehouse made the entire operation smooth and convenient, and on countless occasions — even at the shortest notice — the team made their loading dock available so we could move quickly when the weather opened a window.

A huge thank you to Andy and the entire Holloway team — absolute legends who never made us feel like we were interrupting their busy schedule. The growth of their company is no surprise to us — they’ve earned it through dedication, professionalism, and heart.
