Stingless bee honey frames are now accessible for the bees to get access to. Anticipation that all 7 frames will be full by the end of summer. Naturally only 1-2 frames will be taken for human consumption the rest is all for the bees. These Bob box design are almost double the size of an oath box. Bees need to store for the bad seasons.. more update to come. Saverio!

At Billion Bees, every design choice comes back to one fundamental rule: the bees always come first. 🐝✨

When we created the BoB Box, we started by looking at nature itself. Native stingless bees in the wild naturally hoard extra resources to future-proof their colonies against tough seasons. To support that, we brought together decades of expertise and natural mimicry:

Bob Luttrell’s Genius: Over 70 years of stingless bee knowledge went into Bob’s frame concept, accounting for practically 90% of the hive's inner functionality.

Les Felhaber’s Horizontal Layout: We paired Bob’s concepts with Les Felhaber’s classic horizontal design (as featured on page 30 of John Klumpp’s Australian Stingless Bees).

Maximum Natural Insulation: We build every BoB Box with a minimum of 50mm thick timber.

Why does this matter? Extreme Heat Protection.
Standard hives often leave bees struggling during scorching Australian summer days. With 50mm insulation and a bee-first design, the internal temperature stays naturally regulated—no emergency human intervention required.

Instead of wasting vital energy cooling down a hot box, our bees can spend their energy doing what they do best: foraging, building, and thriving naturally! 🌿🍯

When David picked up an empty BoB Box, he couldn't have guessed a wild stingless bee colony would decide to move right in and make it their forever home.

Fast forward to today: this colony is absolute powerhouse! We’ve just removed the divider board, opening up the honey super so the bees can finally move into the honey frames.

Given how ridiculously strong and healthy these little pollinators are looking, it wouldn't surprise us one bit if they have those frames completely filled by the end of summer!

Nothing beats watching nature take charge and thrive like this. Well done, David—and welcome home, bees! 🌿🍯✨

When David originally bought an empty hive box, he had no idea a wild stingless bee colony would decide to move right in and make it their home. Less than a year later, these busy little pollinators have built a flourishing colony!

We’ve officially pulled the divider board, opening up access to the honey super so the bees can begin filling their honey frames.
