It's the final day of Bathurst 1000, and everyone is having a great time.
In an hour, the big race will start: 1,000 km over 161 laps taking approximately 6 hours. It's a long day today. But the weather is beautiful, the crowds are excited, the atmosphere is electric, and our team are ready and here to help.

During the school holidays, some of the youngest members of our extended St John family dropped into training being conducted by their trainer grandparents, Mark and Rhonda-Lee Hutchings.

And while they might have a few years to go before they’re officially qualified, the lifesaving instincts are clearly starting early, along with a particular fondness for a defibrillator!

Maybe they should consider the St John Shocktober discounts and deals: get $450 off our G5 defibrillator, get a free Patch 'n' Go kit with a Pocket AED purchase, and get 10% off CPR and First Aid training.

Our aim this Shocktober is to Change the Odds for cardiac arrest by getting more people trained and more AEDs within reach.

Get Trained. Get Equipped.

Shocktober is a month long campaign throughout October that highlights the importance of CPR and defibrillation when a cardiac arrest happens. It also highlights the importance of learning CPR and having an AED available.
At St John, we are always encouraging people to learn new or maintain existing first aid skills, but really the statistics speak for themselves: when CPR is started and an AED is used within 3-5 minutes of an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, the chance of survival can increase to 70%.

If you still aren't motivated to get first aid trained, how about this: throughout Shocktober, St John NSW are offering a 10% on their CPR and First Aid courses.
But what about making sure AEDs are accessible across NSW? Throughout Shocktober, St John NSW are offering a $450 discount on the G5 AED, and a free Patch 'n' Go kit when you purchase a Pocket AED.

Pop quiz: where is the closest AED to you right now?

If you're not sure, you're not alone. Only 2% of cardiac arrests have an AED used by a bystander, and knowing where one is is step one.

Get equipped this Shocktober with $300 off the G5 AED or a free Patch 'n' Go with every Pocket AED purchased.

Whilst you are waiting for your order, tell us in the comments where you'd look first for an AED.

Get equipped. Be ready.

This Shocktober, help change the odds.

Shocktober is about raising awareness throughout October for sudden cardiac arrest, CPR, and access to defibrillators.

Did you know that only around 1 in 10 people survive an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest.

But when CPR and a defibrillator are used within minutes, survival can increase to up to 70%.

This October, we are challenging NSW to take action.

Together, let’s get 5,000 more people trained and put 500 more defibrillators within reach.

Because more people with the skills to act + more defibrillators close enough to use = better odds of survival.

To help make it happen, we’ve put together some great Shocktober offers on our leading defibrillators, alongside 10% off CPR and Provide First Aid training booked this October.

There’s never been a better time to build a safer, more prepared NSW together.

When emergencies hit, St John volunteers step up. Now the law is one step closer to backing them when they do.

This week, the Legislative Assembly in the Parliament of NSW supported changes to give them the same key protections as volunteers with emergency services like the SES and RFS.

It's the result of advocacy by St John, and important progress for our Medical Reserve.

Thank you Hugh McDermott MP: State Member for Prospect for championing our volunteers, and to all the MPs who backed the changes and continue to support the volunteers in their communities.

And to everyone who serves with St John: thank you for everything you do.
