✨ Honoring Extraordinary Lives ✨

What a privilege it is to honor the extraordinary people who cross our paths. Extraordinary can mean so many things, and of course it is deeply personal.

I have lost many beautiful souls in my life, but only one inspired me to think about legacy—about how a life, even after it ends, can continue to make a difference for others.

Neil, wherever you are, I hope you are smiling and at peace. Whilst I miss you deeply, I am more grateful that I met you, and that your presence continues to live on in the lives you touched.

The 7th of December, marks the day you were born, welcomed by your wonderful parents Wendy and Stan Evans, and embraced by your lovely sister Carina.

Thank you, Neil, for reminding me that love and legacy endure beyond time. Your spirit is forever extraordinary. 💙

It's the first day of summer! Are you overdue for your next ?

I'm too busy
They're too expensive
Wait times to see dermatologists are so long
That itchy little spot on my neck is probably nothing

Finding an excuse is easy.

Fortunately, so is booking an appointment with an Accredited Skin Cancer Doctor, one of 730+ GPs Australia-wide with advanced skin cancer detection and treatment education and training.

The last thing most 21-year-olds expect to hear is that they have cancer.

This was Martina's story.

In 2021, having just started her university studies, Martina's life changed in a nano-second when she learned she had Stage III melanoma.

By 2024, though, her outlook on life was very different!

"Three years have now passed since my Stage 3 melanoma diagnosis, almost two years since my last immunotherapy treatment, and over a year since my treatment for colitis that was funded by the Neil Evans Melanoma Foundation.”

"[I’m] so thankful and full of appreciation…without their generous support and prompt action, I believe I may be facing a different story today."

Our mission is simple: to ensure that every Australian melanoma patient has an equal chance of beating their melanoma, for good.

Despite the PBS* helping to reduce out-of-pocket costs for patients, melanoma treatments are expensive.

And treatment of advanced melanoma, particularly unresectable Stage III or Stage IV disease, can be substantially more expensive.

NEMF was founded to help ease the financial burden for these patients during their treatment journeys. Funds are distributed with the support of , whose incredible work supports ~2,000 new melanoma and complex skin cancer patients and ~20,000 patient visits each year**.

Don't let the clouds fool you. ⛅

When it's overcast (or even raining), a moderate UV rating of 3-5 still means you should be wearing sunscreen, sunnies, and a hat, and aim to stay in the shade at a minimum during peak UV hours (10am-4pm).

A high UV rating (6-7) means sunburn, which increases your risk of skin cancer, can occur in less than 30 minutes.

Aussies, check the UV wherever you are, any time, any day, at myuv.com.au.

And remember, there's no such thing as a safe tan!

FACT: Exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light from the sun causes 95% of melanomas.

Yet shockingly, most young Australians (74%) believe their risk of getting skin cancer is unlikely. And almost 1 in 3 (31%) believe it’s fine to suntan as a young person.

So, as we head into another gloriously long Aussie 🌸 spring and 🌞 summer, remember (and remind all the young and 'invincible' people in our lives!), there is NO SUCH THING as a safe tan. Literally.
