As a not-for-profit multicultural social services provider, CASS has earned widespread recognition for its extensive array of social and welfare services. Each week, CASS reaches out to over 7,000 families from a variety of East Asian backgrounds in Metropolitan Sydney, Wollongong, and Melbourne. The services provided by CASS are comprehensive, encompassing home ageing, residential aged care, disability services, vocational training, settlement and health services, childcare, and much more. In an effort to cultivate an inclusive multicultural community online, CASS has a dedicated Promotions Team that diligently manages 17 accounts across 9 social media platforms and maintains 7 websites, with close to 40,000 active followers overall. These platforms, which include Facebook, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, YouTube, and WeChat, provide updates in multiple languages, such as English, Cantonese, Mandarin, Vietnamese, Korean, and Indonesian, catering to the linguistic diversity of the community. The daily updates provided by CASS cover a wide range of topics, including the latest sessions, seminars, expos, and projects that CASS organises independently or in collaboration with various business partners. In addition to this, CASS also actively promotes key campaigns of its partners and shares news information that aligns with the community’s interests. This proactive and diverse social media presence has been warmly received by the community, further solidifying CASS’s role as an indispensable resource for multicultural communities. The success of CASS’s social media strategy is a testament to its commitment to fostering a sense of belonging and inclusivity among the diverse communities it serves.

Our Campsie Indonesian Activity Group celebrated the Moon Festival the best way they know how, with mooncakes, music and plenty of dancing, bringing around 50 members together for the festivities!🥮💃

Ms Kitty Leong, Senior Executive Officer of Corporate Affairs, joined the celebration to share her best wishes and hand out mooncakes on behalf of CASS. With such an energetic group, she couldn’t resist joining in the fun herself!

Volunteer Mario added to the laughter dressed as Monk Pig, while dance teacher Nila kept everyone moving to lively Indonesian songs.

Around 90 members and guests gathered for a joyful Moon Festival celebration at our Castle Hills Activity Group, with our members once again taking centre stage and delighting the crowd with their wonderful performances. 👏🎶

Dr Michelle Byrne - Mayor of the Hills Shire Council and Clr Frank De Masi GAICD - Deputy Mayor The Hills Shire, joined the celebration and enjoyed the performances alongside our members. The festive spirit soon became irresistible, with both guests joining everyone for an energetic dance, bringing the celebration to an unforgettable high! 💃

Representing CASS at the celebration were Mr Ivan Wong, Vice-Chairperson, and Ms Molly Li, Activity Groups Team Leader of Community Social Support Services.

Nothing makes us happier than seeing our multicultural seniors staying active, sharing their talents and embracing every opportunity to move, dance and have fun together. Here’s to many more joyful moments like these! ❤️

📸 They certainly know how to strike a pose! CASS Art Troupe celebrated a proud moment as a nominee for the 2026 NSW Volunteer of the Year Awards in the Upper North Shore Volunteer Team category, with members attending the recent award presentation ceremony at Hornsby RSL Club on 18 Sep.

Over the past year, the CASS Art Troupe participated in dozens of performances and community events organised by councils and government agencies, including Ku-ring-gai Council, Hornsby Shire Council, City of Ryde, City of Canada Bay, Willoughby City Council, Strathfield Council, Inner West Council (Ashfield), and Canterbury-Bankstown Council, as well as NSW Health and other government organisations. These events included Lunar New Year celebrations, multicultural festivals, Moon Festival events, Spring Festival celebrations, residential aged care facility visits, and many other community activities.

This recognition reflects the dedication, passion and valuable contributions of our Art Troupe, whose commitment continues to strengthen connections and enrich our community.

We are incredibly proud of the team and grateful for everything they contribute through volunteering. 💛

What stayed with us most at the Korean Senior Morning Tea were the conversations with seniors, who shared how comforting it was to finally have important information translated into Korean by our team, CASS Korean Services, something they could read with confidence, take home and turn to whenever they needed.

Their smiles and words of appreciation strengthened our commitment to breaking down language barriers and ensuring every senior, regardless of their cultural or linguistic background, can feel informed, supported and connected in Australia.

On 21 Sep, Mr Jerome Laxale MP, Federal Member for Bennelong, along with The Hon Chris Minns MP, Premier of New South Wales, hosted a Senior Morning Tea to celebrate the launch of the Korean-language kit of the ‘2026 Senior and Pensioner Guide’.

Published in Korean and facilitated by CASS Care, the guide aims to make important government, welfare and care information more accessible to Korean-speaking seniors who may face language barriers when navigating services in Australia.

The booklet brings together practical information relevant to seniors living in Australia, including government services, Age Pension, Superannuation, various subsidies and discounts, Medicare and health information, disability support, Aged Care services, Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP), Support at Home, caregiver support, and key contacts.

Along with distribution of the booklets, guests and senior participants enjoyed performances by our Harmonica Group and Korean Traditional Dance Group, both of which have long brought many Korean seniors in Sydney together and given them a strong sense of belonging.

Representing CASS at the event were Mr Anthony Pang OAM, Deputy Chairperson/Secretary; Mr Ivan Wong, Vice Chairperson; Prof Jane Gyung-Sook Lee, Board Member; Ms Pauline Kim, Board Member; and Ms Sarah Chang, Senior Executive Officer of Multicultural Community Services Development.

Also in attendance were Councillor Lyndal Howison - Ryde, City of Ryde; Mr Jubek Hyung, 35th President of 호주 시드니 한인회 Korean Society of Sydney Australia Inc; Mr William W.H Seung OAM, President of Australian Federation of Korean Communities (AFKC); Ms Hye-sook Lim, President of the World Korean Women’s Network (KOWIN/KOWIN Victoria) in Australia; and Mr Dong-sik Go from the Australia Korea Culture & Arts Incorporated.

More than 80 members and guests came together for our Hua Xing Activity Group’s Moon Festival celebration! 🥮🎶

Our volunteers arrived early to transform the venue for the occasion, while team members brought even more colour to the day by dressing in traditional cultural attire.

Mayor Bilal El-Hayek - City of Canterbury Bankstown thanked CASS for its dedicated contribution to community services and multiculturalism over the past 45 years, highlighting multiculturalism as something the City has always been proud of.

Deputy Mayor Rachelle Harika - Canterbury Bankstown Council, representing the Hon Tony Burke MP, Federal Member for Watson, acknowledged CASS’s longstanding support for culturally diverse communities and encouraged members to stay connected and engaged.

Mr Zhi Soon MP, Federal Member for Banks, shared childhood memories of celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival with his family and reflected on passing the tradition on to his child today. He also brought along senior information booklets to help members access useful information and support.

Also joining the celebration on behalf of CASS were Mr Henry Pan OAM, Foundation Chairperson and Honorary Executive Director; Mrs Teresa Chu and Mr Paul Lai, Board Members; and Ms Kitty Leong, Senior Executive Officer of Corporate Affairs.

Then it was time for our members to shine! ✨ From painting and Tai Chi to Chinese folk dance and Vietnamese singing, members proudly shared their talents. With Henry’s singing and a lucky draw adding to the excitement, the celebration wrapped up amid laughter, music and cheerful voices.❤️

Since 2021, Xiu Qing has been a dedicated and reliable volunteer, generously supporting community activities and helping wherever needed.

In her role managing front desk registration and fee collection for the Ashfield Social Dance Time Group, she is known for her warmth, patience and attention to detail. Her commitment and positive attitude help ensure activities run smoothly and create a welcoming experience for all participants.

In 1987, during a conversation with friends in the Chinese Youth League and the Sydney Chinese School, Henry heard comments that some people were getting old, but they had difficulties finding appropriate care services. While the remarks were casually made, Henry realized that apart from child care services, there was an urgent need in providing elderly services which were lacking at the time.

There was suggestion to do something together for elderly services, but where should they start?

They obtained inspiration from a piece of exciting news. A well-known Chinese in Melbourne, Mr. Wah Yeo, together with a group of enthusiastic community members had successfully started the Victorian Elderly Chinese Hostel in 1985. They opined that ‘If Melbourne could start the action, people in Sydney should also try’

More than 100 members gathered at our Hua Kang Seniors Group (Thursday) on 24 Sep for a joyful Moon Festival celebration filled with mooncakes, music and friendship. 🥮

Councillor Nancy Liu JP - Georges River Council, representing Mayor Elise Borg - Georges River Council, shared that Hua Kang has become like family to her, reflecting on the friendships and connections she has treasured throughout nearly 20 years of community service.

Ms Ash Ambihaipahar MP, Federal Member for Barton, encouraged group members to continue building a diverse, inclusive and harmonious community that embraces our differences.

While unable to attend, Mr Zhi Soon MP, Federal Member for Banks, sent a special video message, wishing everyone a happy and peaceful Moon Festival.

The celebration ended on a heartwarming note as guests shared mooncakes and gifts with members, before everyone joined together to sing the beloved “The Moon Represents My Heart” (月亮代表我的心). 🎶❤️

Also joining the celebration on behalf of CASS were Mrs Teresa Chu and Mr Paul Lai, Board Members, and Ms Peony Chik, Senior Executive Officer of Community Social Support Services.

Going for gold and bringing it home! 🥇 A huge congratulations to our Auburn Activity Group’s Tai Chi Team, who proudly took home Gold at the 2026 Second International Wushu (Kung Fu) & Tai Chi Invitational Competition! 🎉

Supported by Multicultural NSW, the competition was held at Ashfield Town Hall on 20 September and hosted by the Australian-Chinese Wushu (Kung Fu) Culture Association Inc.
With more than 200 martial arts and Tai Chi practitioners competing across 100+ categories, our team stepped up to the challenge and impressed with their skill, dedication and sportsmanship.

A golden moment for our team and a wonderful reminder that passion, perseverance and community spirit can shine at any age! We’re incredibly proud to see our seniors staying active, embracing their strengths and representing CASS with flying colours! 💪✨
