TEDxSydney Propagating Australian ideas, creativity and innovation on Gadigal & Dharug Land ❌

TEDxSydney is the leading platform for the propagation of Australian ideas, creativity and innovation to the rest of the world. TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less). TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics — from science to business to globa

l issues — in more than 100 languages. TED is a global community, welcoming people from every discipline and culture who seek a deeper understanding of the world. TED believes passionately in the power of ideas to change attitudes, lives and, ultimately, the world. Evolving out of the success of TED, the TEDx initiaitve was created in the spirit of TED’s mission, “ideas worth spreading.” TEDx supports independent organizers who want to create a TED-like event in their own community. TEDx events are planned and coordinated independently, under a free license granted by TED. TEDxSydney is an independently organised event licensed from TED by longtime TEDster, Remo Giuffré (REMO General Store, General Thinking network) and run by the TEDxSydney organising team, our volunteers, directors and founder. This group began the current iteration of TEDxSydney at Carriageworks in 2010, with a single day of ideas and performances. After another two great Carriageworks events, TEDxSydney moved to the Sydney Opera House allowing for a significant increase to the amount of people who can experience this extraordinary event. TEDxSydney moved to it's current home at ICC Sydney in 2017, once again more than doubling its capacity. TEDxSydney has become the leading platform for the propagation of Australian ideas, creativity and innovation to the rest of the world. We aim to create and foster a sense of community amongst the people and organisations who have gathered (and continue to gather) around this event; and to provide a cultural focus and impetus for conversation and debate.
