Livvy-lou, we’re so proud of you.

You’ve soared this year and finished Year 12 on the highest of highs, surrounded by the most beautiful group of friends and with the most incredible results — 1st in three of your subjects and 2nd in the rest.

Even more impressive than those stellar achievements is the grit and grunt behind them. Watching your relentless drive to do well in your HSC over the past 18 months has been something else. We’ve never seen you work harder or want it more. We have endless respect for the boldness it took to set your sights high, say it out loud and be brave enough to back yourself. You put in the work and then you did some more.

Your dad and I know exactly what it’s taken for you to get here. There were many stolen years in the wilderness, dealing with scars no one else could see, and they have shaped you into the tenacious, wonderful young woman you are today.

Now it’s your time to shine. You can have the whole damn sky. Get out there and go after it, girl.

Seven years ago, Levi’s Project began with one goal - to change the future for kids with DIPG.

Today, our research is driving discoveries across targeted therapies, CAR-T, drug delivery, genetic vulnerabilities and advanced preclinical models.

We missed a pretty big milestone last month. We celebrated our 7th birthday.

I still remember pressing publish on the website that would bring Levi’s Project into the world. We launched without social media back in those days. I hit send just before school pick-up, and by the time I walked through the school gates, the news had spread.

There was hope hanging in the air.

Then came the launch party at Children’s Cancer Institute, a day our kids still talk about today. They got to dress up as scientists, do mock experiments, and for the first time, we walked into the labs where the research that we hoped could change the future for kids like Levi was happening.

Ben and I stood up and gave a speech. We told everyone our mission.

📢 We would do whatever it took to raise the money to turn research into real treatment options for kids with DIPG

We made a promise, and we’ve kept it.
Has it been exhausting? Yes. Throw a fundraiser and realise just how taxing it is. Do it in your dead child’s name and feel the weight that carries. Hit repeat dozens of times a year, year after year, for 7 looong years, and you get a smidgen of the energy it takes to keep showing up and shouting about it.

Do we think about quitting? Every year in the lead up to Christmas 😂 (we love you Chrissy Trees but geez you are WORK).

But then we look at what this incredible community has helped us achieve ➡️ $6.2 MILLION raised for DIPG research.

The people who gave in those first few weeks are still giving today. Alongside them is a small army of supporters who have joined us along the way.

You have big hearts. You believe in the mission. You have trusted us to take your generosity and put it where it can make a difference. And we reckon we’ve done him bloody proud.

Seven years on, we’re still here. Still fighting. Still funding research. Still pushing for more options for kids with DIPG. And still doing everything we said we would.

We're immensely proud to share that our CAR-T cell therapy trial for children with DIPG/DMG, made possible by Levi's Catch, is showing real promise. The early experience has been genuinely encouraging - and just as importantly, the children on the trial have tolerated the treatment well.

That matters. Using CAR-T for brain tumours is hard, and trials around the world have struggled with inflammation and neurotoxicity. Getting this far safely isn't luck. It reflects deliberate trial design, a smart delivery strategy, and tight integration between our laboratory and clinical teams.

Behind the trial, our laboratory program is cracking open some of the biggest questions in the field: how DMG tumours hide from the immune system, how to stop the immune responses that cut CAR-T cells short, and how to engineer CAR-T cells that are stronger and last longer. Each of these is a piece of the puzzle - and our goal is to bring them together in the trials that come next.

There's more ahead. We're working towards further combination trials for children with brain tumours, and we'll share more as those plans take shape.

A few legends who’ve made it across the finish line recently 🏃‍♀️

A huge congratulations to Natalie Hall, who ran the Sydney Marathon last weekend for Levi’s Project and raised an incredible $4,378!

It was the final chapter in a huge journey for Nat, who set herself the goal a few years back of running five marathons. We’re incredibly honoured that she chose to make her final marathon count for kids with DIPG.

And a big shout to Amy Lee, who just completed her second marathon for Levi’s Project. That’s now two marathons, two half marathons and a City2Surf — all as part of her mission to change the future for kids diagnosed with this devastating disease. One of our biggest champions, Amy runs with Levi on her bib and in her heart, sharing his story wherever she runs.

The update I didn’t want to give 😢

As many of you who have sponsored me know, I’ve been sharing weekly updates on my TCS Sydney Marathon journey. After 8 months of training, I was finally on the home stretch of the long, long road to the big 42km this Sunday.

Then, on my last long run into the city just over a week ago, I pulled up in a world of pain. I haven’t been able to run since. Long story short, I have a groin hernia that’s really angry, and I’m officially out.

I’m devastated.

Those who know me know I rarely do anything without intention, and this was always going to be more than just a run. When I set this crazy goal of going from 0km to a marathon in a year, I imagined running that course for Levi and my mum — the wind in my hair and their footprints on my heart as I crossed the finish line. I’m sad I won’t get that moment.

I want you to know how hard I worked for your donations. Training six days a week while balancing full time work plus a few more jobs on the side and a crazy, complex family life. I gave this everything I had.

But this isn’t a pity party. It’s a huge thank you.

We raised $13,935 for kids with brain cancer, making me the #1 fundraiser out of 75 for Children's Cancer Institute. I do feel a teeny bit sorry for the other punters though, cause really, did they even stand a chance 🤷‍♀️

I dove headlong into the discipline, discovered what I’m capable of and, most importantly, gained the most beautiful sisterhood through my run club M***a Runner — the best wing-women ever.

I’ll probably mute the marathon chat til it’s over, but endless thanks to everyone who donated, supported and cheered me on.

I may not have made it to the start line this year, but knowing me… I’ll probably have to run it back next year.

P.S. This first pic is of me running the half marathon in May. I remember thinking I could not possibly take another step. Amazing what we can do when we get that dog in us.
