ILLUSION, LIES AND DECEPTION — IS THE WORLD WAKING UP?

We live in an age of extraordinary claims, competing narratives, propaganda, artificial intelligence and collapsing trust in institutions. Catholics should neither blindly believe everything we hear nor simply look the other way.

The Christian response is discernment.

This interview raises some confronting and highly speculative claims. Sharing it is not an endorsement of every conclusion. It is an invitation to listen critically, question carefully and seek truth — while guarding against both naïveté and fear.

Scripture repeatedly calls us to be watchful, wise and discerning: “Test everything; hold fast to what is good.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:21.

Perhaps one of the great spiritual challenges of our time is learning to distinguish truth from manipulation, legitimate warning from speculation, and wisdom from fear.

May God give us eyes to see, ears to hear, and the courage and humility to discern well.

A WELCOME AND COURAGEOUS STEP

It is deeply encouraging to see Catholic clergy from across several countries joining together to speak clearly against the suffering in Gaza and the West Bank.

At a time when so many Christians are asking where the Church’s prophetic voice is, this growing network is a reminder that silence is not the only option.

May their witness continue to grow — and may priests, bishops and Catholic leaders in Australia also find the courage to stand publicly for the dignity of Palestinian lives, for peace, and for justice.

Please pray for these clergy, for all innocent civilians, and for the Church to speak with clarity, compassion and courage.

PRAY FOR NEPAL

Let us lift Nepal in prayer as devastating flash floods have claimed lives, destroyed communities, and left hundreds of people missing. Rescue teams continue their search for survivors amid difficult conditions.

Lord, have mercy on Nepal.
Comfort those who have lost their loved ones, protect those still waiting to be rescued, strengthen the rescuers, and give courage and hope to every family affected by this tragedy.

May God bring healing to the wounded, strength to the rescuers, comfort to the grieving, and safety to those still in danger.

Our Lady of Good Help, pray for Nepal.
St. Joseph, Patron of the Universal Church, pray for us.
Lord, save Your people and bring them through this storm.

Archbishop Fisher is right that Catholics should be able to worship without intimidation, and antisemitism must always be rejected.

But it is also worth asking why the moral urgency behind these protests receives so little attention in our Catholic commentary.

The suffering of Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank is not a peripheral political issue. Pope Leo XIV has repeatedly called for an end to violence against Palestinian civilians, for equal dignity and equal rights, and for a just and lasting peace.

Surely both truths can be held together: protect people at worship, reject hatred, and still recognise why so many Australians feel compelled to protest against what they believe is grave injustice.

Catholic moral witness should not become selective.
