FOCUS Connect is hosting a Free Creative Holiday Lab for Campbelltown young people aged 12 to 24 these winter school holidays.

Come along for a fun day of creativity, food and connection, with:

✔️Woodfire pizza
✔️Local youth services and health providers

Emergency Relief outreach has arrived in the Illawarra

FOCUS Connect’s Emergency Relief program is branching out to include walk-in outreach support in the Illawarra community.

Emergency Relief provides essential financial and material support to individuals and families, including CALD and Indigenous communities, who are experiencing financial hardship or instability.

Support may include:

✔️Budgeting support
✔️Food or clothing assistance
✔️Vouchers for essential needs, including fuel, pharmaceuticals and other critical items
✔️Utility bill assistance for basic services such as water, phone and NBN bills
✔️Referrals to other support services

📍Berkeley Community Centre
40 Winnima Way, Berkeley
1st and 3rd Thursday of every month

📍Bulli Community Centre
328 Princes Highway, Bulli
2nd and 4th Thursday of every month

Time: 9:00am – 2:00pm
Walk-ins welcome

The best care is not always the fastest care.

In aged care, there is an important difference between doing everything for someone and supporting them to do what they can for themselves.

This is called reablement, and it is about working with someone, not simply for them.

At FOCUS Connect, our Support at Home services focus on confidence, dignity, choice and independence, helping older people live well at home for longer.

As the colder months set in, no one should have to go without a nourishing meal.

If you or someone you know is having trouble putting food on the table, FOCUS Connect’s Food Relief Program can help.

Through our partnership with Dignity Australia, the Community Freezer at our Campbelltown centre provides free, nutritious, home-style frozen meals for individuals and families facing financial pressure.

Meals are ready to heat and may include comforting options such as lasagne, curries, spaghetti bolognese, roast dinners and more.

🤝 National Volunteer Week 2026

National Volunteer Week runs from 18–24 May 2026 and is Australia’s largest annual celebration of volunteering.

It is a week to recognise, celebrate and thank the millions of volunteers who give their time, skills and care to support people, organisations and communities across Australia.

Volunteers play an important role in building stronger communities. They help create social connection, support people who may be isolated, fill important gaps, and make many services and programs possible.

This year’s theme, “Your Year to Volunteer,” encourages people to think about how they can get involved in a way that suits their life, interests and availability. It also recognises the contribution of current volunteers and the lasting impact they make.

At FOCUS Connect, volunteers help create connection, support community programs, assist with social activities, provide companionship, support outings, help with administration, and contribute to meaningful outcomes across our community.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Celebrating Families Week

National Families Week runs from Monday 11 May to Sunday 17 May 2026 and is Australia’s annual celebration of families.

Held each May, the week recognises the vital role families play in our lives and communities. It also aligns with the United Nations International Day of Families on 15 May, which highlights the importance of families across communities and society.

Families come in many forms. They may be parents, children, grandparents, carers, extended family, chosen family, kinship networks, or the people who show up for us when we need them most.

At FOCUS Connect, Families Week strongly aligns with who we are. As a not-for-profit organisation, we support individuals and families across the community through aged care, community support, children and family programs, and connection to local services.

We help people stay connected, build independence, access support, and feel included in their community.

Happy Mother’s Day

Today we honour mothers, grandmothers, aunties, carers, and all maternal figures who give so much love, care, guidance, and strength to the people around them.

Mother’s Day in Australia has a beautiful local story. In the 1920s, Sydney woman Janet Heyden began organising gifts for lonely elderly mothers who might otherwise have been forgotten. What started as a simple act of kindness helped shape the Mother’s Day gift-giving tradition we know today.

This Mother’s Day, we celebrate not only the mothers in our own lives but also the power of connection, kindness, and remembering those who may be feeling alone.
