Eastwood Guides had fun running a stall at the Ryde Markets. The girls enjoyed making friendship bracelets and telling others why they like Junior Guides and Guides. Camp, woodwork, craft, games, flying kites, bike hikes and bushwalks ranked highly. Lots of stickers were given out to girls who might be Guides in the future.

Eastwood Girl Guides – Reach Out to Kiribati 🇰🇮

Our Guides & Junior Guides took part in the Reach Out to Kiribati Challenge, learning about water scarcity and how Kiribati is being affected by rising seas and shrinking land.

We raised awareness by making floral crowns, while our Junior Guides made and used a tippy tap for handwashing. Our Guides also experienced how much water can be lost when hand-watering crops. 💧🌱

A fun, hands on way to learn about life in Kiribati and support Girl Guides Australia’s work to train and resource Guides there. 💙

Junior Guides (7-10 years old) had an awesome time at spy camp over the weekend! We spent Saturday honing our spy skills in laser maze dodging, fingerprinting, footstep identification, escape route planning, invisible ink, and spy dancing before a great campfire and smores. Then on Sunday the badges went missing and we had to put all of our new skills to the test to get them back!!

Guide spy camp! Eastwood Guides (10-14 years old) had a fabulous weekend testing the science behind being a spy.We tested invisible ink and identified a white powder left by the crim. A code led us to making damper on a campfire. Making a flag, collecting trinkets, playing spotlight, and outdoor cooking were all part of the fun!

On the weekend Eastwood Junior Guides, Guides and Senior Guides joined in National Tree Day, assisting at the tree planting event organised by Parramatta Council. The girls did an amazing job planting and watering many new trees and shrubs, and enjoyed the wildlife and environmental displays.

Eastwood District Guides attended City of Ryde’s Anzac Day commemorative service at Anzac Park, West Ryde yesterday. We had a great turn out of girls from across Junior Guides, Guides and Senior Guides attending to honour and respect our veterans.
