Sport has the power to bring people together. It builds confidence, creates community and gives people a sense of belonging. But for many LGBTQIA+ Australians, sport hasn't always felt like a place where they could be fully themselves.

This Sunday, as part of Pride Month and Qtopia Pride Fest, BERO TALKS: Fit 'N' Proud brings together athletes, advocates, community leaders and sporting organisations for an honest conversation about inclusion, visibility, identity and belonging in Australian sport.

Hosted by Pride in Sport, the afternoon will explore both the progress that has been made and the challenges that remain for LGBTQIA+ people across elite and community sport.

The program also includes two special community spotlights highlighting inclusion in action:

• Rainbow Swans × Sydney Swans
• Lifesavers with Pride

Together, these conversations move beyond theory to explore how clubs, organisations and communities are creating safer, more welcoming sporting environments across Australia.

The conversation continues after the panel with a special Gay Games Send-Off recognising Team Sydney athletes, participants and community members heading to Valencia Gay Games XII, before transitioning into BERO TALKS: The Afters ~ an opportunity to connect with athletes, community leaders and local LGBTQIA+ sporting organisations.

A couple of the Rainbow Swans are going to be doing blood or plasma donations on 11 June at Swans HQ. Lifeblood now have gender neutral donations and it is a great way to give back to the community.

Hi all
If you are a Melbourne based member you will have seen in the email this week that we now have John in Melbourne managing member pin distribution and he is also keen to get members together down there. Refer to the member email for how to contact John.

Tomorrow pre match festivities are at the Barwon Club Hotel on Moorabool Street down the road from Kardinia Park from approximately 1pm

Game starts 4:15pm. He will also be in section A16 in the Players Stand.

Making a quick getaway as buses are replacing trains back to Melbourne after 8pm

For Immediate Release

The Rainbow Swans and our members are deeply disappointed in the recent AFL Appeals Board verdict and the use of a homophobic slur on-field — for the second time by a St. Kilda player.

To state that “It is commonplace that players can employ language from time to time which is racist, sexist or homophobic while on the field” is hurtful to many in our community and not congruent with the work many people have done within the AFL industry.

We request a meeting with the AFL and the St. Kilda Football Club to table our disappointment and to discuss the work that is required ahead of our planned Pride Game on Sunday June 7. —continued in comments
