We do not have a safe walking or bike and horse-riding pathway for families and visitors from Terrey Hills to Duffys Forest

The Council has not funded in its next budget, the works if committed to do on the Community Bridle Trail multi-use pathway.

The DFRA is preparing a Submission to the NBC to fund the works

Please support the ongoing reconstruction of the Community Bridle Trail as a multi-use family pathway connecting our community.

We must be able to walk with our children and our dogs and ride horses safely along the road corridors.

Our children should be able to walk and ride bikes safely to school. Currently they cannot!!

Please send your letter to [email protected] by 20-5-2026 highlighting your safety concerns and disappointment that the ongoing works have not been funded, so it can be added to the DFRA Submission.

DFRA Update on the Community Bridle Trail (CBT) and horses in Duffys Forest and Terrey Hills
Six members of our community will attend a meeting today with the Northern Beaches Council (NBC) CEO, Staff and Councillors to address community services and safety concerns within the Duffys Forest / Terrey Hills community, including the CBT.
The NBC’s own ‘CBT Site Action Plan’ to reinstate and make safe the trail was published in 2023, accepted and budgeted for in 2024. There is a sample of an all-weather surface at Lot 89 Booralie Rd. This is a mixture of crushed sandstone, clay and cement.
A total horse count for Duffys Forest and Terrey Hills (DF&TH) was completed on 24-4-2026 by several residents.
A baseline of 458 horse over 87 properties was counted.
An additional 150 horses come into the area for lessons, trail riding and short-term agistment.
This is a significant number which highlights the ongoing need for the planned upgrade and maintenance of the CBT.
The CBT is an essential multi-use trail for local families to ride horses, bikes or just walk or run in safety. It connects our community of DF and TH and provide a healthy experience for visitors. The CBT has not been portrayed as a ‘horse only’ trail.
The Community Bridle Trail retains its historic name ‘Bridle Trail’ in respect for those community members who had / have spent hundreds of hours pushing for equestrian facilities and a safe trail since Council’s mapped recognition of the trail in 2007.
We have an amazing community which historical has pulled together. Call if you need more information or can assist 0413594648.

The first Waratah Park DFRA Bush Regeneration Day for the year will be held on Sunday February 8th, starting at 9am.
The day’s activities will finish at 4pm, but you don’t need to be there till then; even an hour or two would be highly valued. This year it would great to see a few more locals joining the usual volunteers who are mainly from outside the area.

Weeds and the fuel load in the Park have increased rapidly since last winter. Our aim is to reduce critical w**d areas over 2026 and make the Park safer and healthier.

The following two Bush Regeneration days will be on Sunday 8th March and 12th April. Please mark your calendars!

Please wear clothing that covers your arms and legs, strong boots or shoes, and a hat. Bring a bottle of drinking water, sunscreen, insect repellent and a pair of gardening gloves. And secateurs, cutting or digging tools if you have them.

Morning tea will be supplied but please bring your own lunch.

If you are able to come, even for just an hour or two, please email Peter Staff at [email protected] .

On the day Peter will be collecting empty cans and bottles, as well as plastic plant pots. This covers the cost of activities in the Park.

Looking forward to seeing you at the Park!
