Our new Crisis Centre is already changing lives.

We are supporting more people with complex needs, including many who have been sleeping rough for years and are accessing support for the first time.

For many, having a private room for the first time is life-changing. But after experiencing homelessness, maintaining a home can be challenging.

With your help, we can provide the practical, one-on-one support people need to build confidence, develop essential living skills and successfully transition into, and sustain, long-term housing.

➡ $75 can provide one-on-one budgeting and financial literacy support.
➡ $120 can fund cleaning and hygiene support for three days.
➡ $250 can provide cooking, nutrition and meal planning support for one week.

Please donate today. Together, we are helping people in crisis move beyond homelessness and towards lasting stability.

Give a tax-deductible donation before June 30: https://livingskills.haymarket.org.au/?utm_source=Social&utm_medium=Social&utm_campaign=2026EOFYCampaign&utm_term=LivingSkills&utm_content=GeorgiaHandles

“My life was in danger. I was forced to escape to stay alive.”

Alex fled extreme violence and discrimination and came to Sydney seeking safety.

What he didn’t expect was to end up homeless.

“When I arrived, I had nowhere to go. I slept at Central Station until someone told me about The Haymarket Foundation.”

At our Crisis Centre, Alex found safety and stability - a place to stay, a warm meal, mental and physical health care, and support to secure an asylum seeker visa and rebuild his life.

Today, Alex is working full‑time, living in his own home, and building a future with purpose.

Right now, we’re welcoming more people facing complex homelessness than ever before. We need your help so more people like Alex can find safety and stability when they need it most.

Get involved by donating or subscribing to our news to stay connected to stories like Alex’s.

"When I got to The Haymarket Foundation, it was the best day of my life..."

We’ve just launched our new Crisis Centre, and what a way to do it.

It was a powerful opening, attended by Ministers, community leaders and partners.

Among them was Georgia, a former resident of The Haymarket Centre, who shared her story with 7News: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N3TD38TTHck

Meet Georgia.

Before arriving at The Haymarket Foundation, Georgia was experiencing complex homelessness, moving between hospital, hotels, backpacker accommodation and a stranger’s house before ending up back on the street.

Georgia stayed in our Crisis Centre for five months. Today, she is thriving.

Her presence on stage was a powerful reminder that it’s not just about having somewhere safe to sleep. It’s about stability, confidence and a sense of belonging.

“I had to re‑learn how to look after myself and my space,” Georgia said.

There’s still so much to do.

Many people arriving at our Crisis Centre are experiencing their private space for the first time in years. That transition can be life‑changing - and it can also be challenging.

Our focus in the new Centre is to support people to build their living skills, so they can sustain their tenancies and rebuild independence when they move on from The Haymarket Foundation.

We’re so proud to have officially opened our new Crisis Centre!

It was a special day filled with collaboration and purpose.

We were delighted to be joined by our partners Bridge Housing CEO Laurie Leigh, Bridge Housing COO Simone Parsons, Lendlease Director Nick Collishaw, Lendlease Development CEO Claire Johnston and Lendlease Social Impact General Manager Jessie Lenson, along with their teams.

It was an incredible day, with government representatives including:
- The Hon. Clare O’Neil MP, Minister for Housing and Homelessness,
- The Hon. Tanya Plibersek MP, Minister for Social Services,
- The Hon. Rose Jackson MP, Minister for Housing and Homelessness,
- The Rt Hon. Clover Moore AO, Lord Mayor of Sydney,
- Alex Greenwich MP, Member for Sydney; and
- Jenny Leong MP, Member for Newtown.

This milestone reflects what’s possible when government, industry and community come together to respond to homelessness with urgency and commitment.

This achievement would not have been possible without the ongoing support of our partners and community - thank you all!

Take a look at the short video from the morning, and stay tuned for what’s next.

This year marks 50 years of The Haymarket Foundation, and we are stepping into our next chapter with a refreshed identity that better reflects the work we do today... and where we are heading next.

Our new logo features the ‘H’ Mark, incorporating a subtle house form that speaks to safety, stability and belonging and captures the shared strength of our community. Alongside a brighter visual style and illustrations that keep people and their journeys at the centre, the new identity brings greater warmth and dignity to how we share our work.

It’s still the same Haymarket, just a stronger, more contemporary and human way of showing who we are. Thank you for being part of the journey.
