It's amazing that council is really looking deeply into finding ways to support buskers! Not only will this be great for the performing arts in Canterbury-Bankstown, but also will go a long way in supporting the night economy and enlivening many dead spaces! AIM Association supports this and would love to be part of the conversation!

Tonight's Council meeting was extra special as we celebrated the family of 12-year-old Charlotte O'Brien who tragically took her own life after being bullied at school.

🏅 I presented her parents Mat Howard and Kelly O'Brien with a Mayoral Certificate of Appreciation for their tireless work raising awareness about bullying and mental health

🎂 We also presented a special surprise for their 3-year-old son Will who celebrated his birthday today

🏃 I also updated Council on the success of my Mayoral 24hr Challenge for Mental Health which raised more than $100,000 to fund vital Education Scholarships.

⚽ We’re also investigating the potential to host live sites to screen relevant Australian matches during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

🚆 And we called on Sydney metro to hold a community Market and Fun Day at Belmore once their work is completed.

🥁 We also recognised an opportunity to attract buskers and street entertainers and called for a report to develop and implement policies and strategies.

✅ Other matters included electrifying Council’s fleet of vehicles and acknowledging Father Boulos Kerbaj of St Charbel’s monastery who has just celebrated his 100th birthday.
