Motor Neurone Disease (MND) has no known cure yet. Around 2,000 Australians are facing it right now. Every one of them is someone's child, partner, parent or mate.
One of them is Jai Arrow.
Jai has shown us what it means to Stand For Change.
Now we want him to know something just as powerful – he DOES NOT stand alone.
A decade in the NRL with the Brisbane Broncos, the Gold Coast Titans, the South Sydney Rabbitohs and Queensland Maroons taught him how to front up. MND has asked for something harder, and Jai has answered with strength and courage that has moved a community far beyond football.
That community will stand together – the Honourable Chris Minns MP, Premier of New South Wales, Ita Buttrose AC OBE, Anne Burgess AM, Minister Jihad Dib MP, Minister Sophie Cotsis - alongside dignitaries, community leaders, friends and family.
Not for a cause in the abstract. For one person, and for everyone MND touches.
At My Guardian, we sit beside people living with it every day. We hold their hands, share their laughs and see a strength most of us will never be asked to find.
