🇹🇴❤️‍🔥A quick trip back to the Kingdom, I was able to take with me a few of the donated goods for the Vaotu’u Akoteu. These included projectors and laptops.

Upon arriving on the school grounds I had thought I was just dropping the resources off then returning home. Humbly, I was greeted with an assembly with thanksgiving to Jehova for the generosity of kind strangers. When leaving the teachers had said they regularly pray for the Vaiangina Project and me in particular. It’s amazing seeing how their use of the donated resources from 2023 has assisted in the quality of learning and teaching - Fakamalo lahi atu kihe P**eako, kau Faiako moe fanau ako e lotu moe hufia oku mou fai.

Koe me’a mahu’inga ko homou lotu mo hufia ‘ae ki’i feinga ko’eni oku fai; he ko e hakau oe aho ni, ko e fonua I he kaha’u.

Pacific Engagement Visa (PEV)

With the PEV opening to participating Pacific Island countries and Timor Leste, a wave of excitement and confusion has been unleashed with individuals hopeful for a chance to come to Australia with their family.

While this is an amazing opportunity, it is also a fairly unfamiliar one - with unprecedented potential for success through this stream; there is also an equal chance of abuse and misleading information which can be used to manipulate hopeful applicants. While it is not a primary function of the to provide updates of this nature, it does not negate a responsibility to inform and provide guidance to the correct avenues to our kainga through acts of reciprocity and ‘ofa.

Long-term PALM scheme workers from Tonga may be eligible to participate in the pilot. If selected, workers can bring their spouse or de facto partner and eligible dependent children to Australia.

You can check whether you and your family meet the eligibility criteria on the PALM scheme website: https://www.palmscheme.gov.au/workers/eligibility

The pilot will be open to 200 long-term workers and their families.

Workers will need employer support to apply to be part of the pilot. Any long-term workers thinking of applying for the pilot should speak to their employer as soon as possible.

Applications will open in mid-July.
