Today we honour Eddie Koiki Mabo, whose work led to meaningful change in recognising and protecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander land, culture, and community.

We acknowledge the ongoing impacts of the criminal legal system on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, and the importance of listening, learning, and responding with care.

Success Works recognises the strength, knowledge, and leadership within communities. We pay our respects to Elders past and present, and acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we live and work.

Today marks the beginning of Reconciliation Week 2026, a time for reflection, truth‑telling, and acknowledging past and ongoing harms, while supporting healing and meaningful change.

We recognise the strength, resilience, and survival of Stolen Generations survivors and their families, and acknowledge the deep and lasting impacts of these injustices. We understand that advocacy against harm within the criminal justice system must be guided by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices and lived experience.

Success Works acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we live and work. We pay our respects to Elders past and present and recognise their continuing connection to land, culture, and community.

In Australia, the criminal legal system continues to impact Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities disproportionately.

We are committed to listening to and amplifying Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices, honouring lived experience, and supporting pathways to safety, healing, and opportunity as part of ongoing and genuine efforts toward reconciliation between Indigenous and non‑Indigenous peoples.

Today reminds us to reflect on our country’s history, understand continuous modern impacts, and work together as a nation to better our systems and assist vulnerable peoples. Stand in solidarity!

✨ Celebrating the power of volunteering this National Volunteer Week ✨

We were proud to stand alongside ReLove as the Minister for Women Jodie Harrison MP visited to see the impact of this important work in action.

Through our partnership with ReLove, Success Works is supporting women to rebuild their confidence, strengthen their skills, and take meaningful steps forward through volunteering. 💛

Pathways to Success is a volunteer program providing women impacted by the legal system with targeted learning and leadership opportunities. The objective is to improve skills, boost confidence, forge employment partnerships, and empower women to achieve stability and self-sufficiency.

We are incredibly proud to be part of a community that supports women to rebuild their lives and move towards new opportunities.

A heartfelt thank you to every volunteer who gives their time and energy. Your impact is truly life changing.

“Persistent inequalities, combined with technological change, climate pressures and other global trends, are placing increasing strain on families and reinforcing intergenerational cycles of disadvantage.”

Without adequate support systems, families often face heightened risks of falling into poverty, with long term consequences to children’s education, health, and wellbeing.

Access to stable employment is essential to getting life back on track. Success Works endeavors to help women break the cycle, build connections, and maintain stability for themselves and their families 🫂
