Contributing to the next generation of leaders in the field of infrastructure development.

30/08/2026

The two inaugural recipients of the Nick van Gelder Dreamers Foundation Equity Scholarship at UNSW have just begun their second semester of studies. Each scholar is the recipient of a scholarship to support their education at UNSW’s Civil and Environmental Engineering school.

These scholarships mark an important milestone for the Foundation as we embark on our partnership with UNSW to provide scholarships in perpetuity, ensuring Nick’s legacy lives on for generations.

Please read below to find out how the Foundation is having a positive impact on our scholars’ lives.

We are very proud to now have nine scholars under our wings spread across the University of Sydney, St Andrew’s College within the University of Sydney and UNSW. We’d like to take this opportunity to thank those who have donated and supported us since our journey began in early in 2022. Without you, these scholarships would not have been possible.

If you would like more information on the Foundation and would like to donate, please visit our website at www.nvgdreamersfoundation.org.au. Your generosity will make a difference to a young person’s future.

Over the summer break one of our scholars was fortunate enough to experience an amazing two week internship at Clean Energy Finance Corporation.

Please click on the link in our bio to find out about Lillie’s experience at Clean Energy Finance Corporation.

The Foundation would like to extend our sincere gratitude and thanks to Ian Learmonth, Tim Wheeler, Owen Pascoe and the whole Clean Energy Finance Corporation team for their time, generosity and support. Without these mentoring opportunities, the Foundation would not be able to provide the level of support required to help shape our future infrastructure leaders.

If you would like more information on the Foundation, would like to be a mentor or would like to donate, please email us at [email protected] or visit our website www.nvgdreamersfoundation.org.au.

What a fantastic night of rugby! Well done to on their victory and to for their valiant effort. The Foundation is honoured to be a part of the community.

The rugby oval at the University of Sydney was one of Nick’s favourite places and held a special place in his heart. He would have been extremely proud to have his name on the Rawson Cup Indigenous Round jersey.

Last night we had the St Andrew’s College University & Schools Dinner where scholarship recipients were acknowledged for the awarding of their scholarships.

I had the pleasure of having dinner with our first First Nations scholar, D’Arcy Vaughan, who is studying Architecture at the University of Technology Sydney.

It was wonderful to hear about his studies and college life and the impact the scholarship is having on, not only his life, but his family’s life. Engaging with our scholars and hearing about their lives, families and dreams is what it is all about!

First Nations Round Rugby Jerseys Unveiled at .

The 2025 First Nations Round jerseys were formally presented at Formal Dinner last night to the Men’s and Women’s Rugby teams. Now in its second year, the initiative recognises and honours First Nations cultures through a dedicated jersey worn in the final round of the Rawson Rugby competition and Women’s 7s Gala Day.

This year the Nick van Gelder Dreamers Foundation is proud to sponsor the jersey.

The initiative was introduced to the College in 2024 by alumni Destiny Batman-Peris (Fr 2021), a proud Bunitj, Gidja and Yawuru woman, as part of her Senior Scholar project. The jersey was designed by Lua Pellegrini, Artist in Residence and a proud Wiradjuri woman.

The Women’s 7s team will wear the jersey this Sunday at the Intercollegiate Gala Day, from 9 am at St John’s Oval, followed by the Rawson Cup Rugby Final on Wednesday, 21 May at 7:30 pm at Sydney Uni Football Oval, where the men’s team will play against St John’s College.
