The UNSW Nuclear Society is taking a group out to ANSTO’s Lucas Heights facility on Thursday 9 July - one of Australia’s most cutting-edge research sites. Spaces are limited and nuclear minor/major students get first priority, but everyone’s welcome to throw their name in.

Forty years ago, the Chernobyl accident significantly impacted global perceptions of nuclear power, but data creates a different perspective of this energy source. This post provides an overview of the accident, and the impact of nuclear power in terms of deaths and CO2 emissions per unit of energy produced, compared with the other
energy sources.
