Even the table is all aquiver! πŸ˜…

The excitment is simply palpable as we kick off the 2026 living history and re-enactment season at The Gathering. This is a reenactor-only event bringing together groups from far and wide to reconnect, relax and prepare for the year ahead.

We'll be preparing more peasant dad jokes and bad puns! And, of course, bringing more history to life.

Thank you to NEMAS for bringing us together again.

We are starting to think that the wind is following us around... surely we don't smell that bad that we need constant ventilation!

A successful first day at Queanbeyan Medieval Fair despite what we think were gale force winds... again! Shades of Newcastle Medieval Festival a few weeks ago πŸ’¨πŸƒ

We look forward to a slightly calmer Sunday - come say hello to the Peasants and be sure to catch our demonstrations!

It is time for our annual journey to the land of clear waters (Queanbeyan comes from the Aboriginal word Kuwinbiyan, meaning 'clear waters').

We'll wear our best, least stained clothes to this year's Queanbeyan Medieval Fair - we are delighted to be there once again. And this year, in addition to our demonstration of the Year in the Life of a Peasant, we have also prepared in-depth presentations on hot peasant topics 🀩πŸ”₯ We have no doubt that all peasantry attending the fair will find these of great interest and moderate use in daily life.

Watch this space for more detailed information on each presentation to be held in our encampment on both Saturday and Sunday!

Newcastle ranks as the 4th windiest city in Australia. In our humble peasant opinion it should be first - average wind speed recorded on the first day of the Newcastle Medieval Festival was 50-60km/hr gusting up to 96! That's enough to blow the coif off a peasant's head! 😲

Good thing these peasants learnt their lesson from last year and windproofed the camp and our displays for visitors to enjoy! We were heartened to see so many people in attendance. Fortunately, Sunday was much more calm. Thank you for your interest in the lives of peasants-past and your fantastic questions!

Thank you also to the organisers and our fellow reenactors for your assistance! We look forward to next year - with a little less wind if possible πŸ˜…

Up next - Queanbeyan Medieval Fair on 27-28 September. See you there!
