Chinatown Mahjong Club every month at Haymarket HQ in collaboration with Mahjong@UTS. The only mahjong club with actual mahjong 🀄️ tables hehe.

Since 2021, we’ve donated thousands of food items to Chinese-Australian seniors around Sydney. Chris Lam 東南亞 has been an integral part of Rice Fund’s mission and success, including working with the Asian Welfare Centre in Auburn.

We’ve been working with The Kogarah Storehouse for the past few years delivering our Rice Fund charity initiatives through emergency food relief for its pantry, including its Chinese speaking clients. This has seen hundreds of bags of rice, noodles and other pantry staples being donated, along with community events such as Lunar New Year celebrations.

Often we’re focused on the work and less on documenting it: that’s why it was such a pleasure to work with UNSW Media students on their final year project to document our non-profit work. Here’s a glimpse of our collaboration with The Kogarah Storehouse, our volunteers and Chinatown partners.

Our work with Rice Fund never stops. We recently welcome the Chinese seniors group from Advance Diversity to Chinatown for a day of yum cha, shopping and connection.

It’s with a heavy heart that we post this when the future of Emperor's Garden Restaurant & Bakery remains in doubt - thank you for all the support for Rice Fund over the years.

Thank you to THAI KEE IGA for facilitating these seniors and for the generous goodie bags. Thank you to Market City for the generous vouchers to help these seniors pick up some much needed goods.

Our Rice Fund is 100% driven by our volunteers and donors - thank you from the bottom of our hearts 💞

We met Vane from Whiskers a few years ago and love his gelato and sorbet. He is a student of his craft and there’s no gelato place like this in Sydney with Chinese tea flavours, as well as other Chinese, Asian and European flavors like tiramisu (made with ONA Coffee Sydney coffee beans).

Whiskers is super proud of winning the gold medal at the Sydney Royal Easter Show for his Belgian Chocolate, as well as silver and bronze for other flavours.

In just two years Vane has created more than 60 unique flavors and he’ll prob reach 100 this year! Definitely our fav gelato spot in Sydney - we’re so lucky to have them in Chinatown :)
