Yes, the Sydney Sewcation had fabric shopping and new sewing friends. But it was so much more than that.

Sewing brings us together. Being women is what connects us.

I love creating experiences where women can just be. I plan the itineraries so nobody has to think. You just turn up, let go, and have fun.

Still on a high from the first Sydney Sewcation last weekend! 🥹

We left our responsibilities at home for 48 hours and chose to connect with new sewing friends and reconnect with ourselves.

We came for the sewing chat and fabric shopping, but we stayed for the deep conversations, new connections and shared experiences.

So grateful these brave women said yes to me, and to themselves. We had the best time getting to know one another.

Cannot wait to do it all again soon!

Hi, I’m Courtney 👋 So many new faces here lately, thought it was time to re-introduce myself.

I started The Sewcial Connection because I’m obsessed with sewing and wanted to find my people… thanks for finding me!

I run meet-ups and retreats in Tokyo and Sydney for like-minded women who sew. It’s niche, and I love it.

The friendships I’ve watched form through this work never stop inspiring me and I’ve got so many ideas brewing for more in-person experiences for sewists. Watch this space!

Tickets now available for the Sydney Sewcation!

It’s like a weekend slumber party for adults who sew, except with your own room at the funky Ace Hotel Sydney.

We will gather together to chat, stitch and mend, wander Newtown and Surry Hills in search of beautiful fabric, spend a Saturday morning planning our spring/summer sewing over croissants and coffee, eat dinner at some of Sydney’s best restaurants Kiln and Pellegrino 2000 and connect with other like minded makers.

What’s included:
- Two nights at Ace Hotel Sydney, Surry Hills
- Friday night dinner at Kiln rooftop
- Saturday morning sewing planning workshop
- Guided fabric crawl through Newtown and Surry Hills
- Saturday night dinner Pellegrino 2000 
- Sunday brunch
All for $1,500 AUD per person.

Sydney Sewcation is coming August 21–23, 2026 🇦🇺

Connecting sewists in Tokyo has been a dream come true and I’m finally bringing those good vibes to my home town, Sydney!

Spend a weekend with me in one of Sydney’s most creative neighbourhoods, surrounded by women who love to sew as much as you do. We’re talking fabric hunting through Surry Hills and Newtown, long lunches, good w**e, and the kind of conversations that only happen when makers get together.

Whether you’re from Sydney or not, come for the fabric and fun, stay for the friendships. Let me share it with you through my eyes, the creativity, the buzz and the inspiration.

‘Sewing with nothing new’ was this month’s theme for ’s Sewing Club Picnic.

Loved chatting all things sewing and seeing everyone’s makes from thrifted and repurposed materials to finally using those special fabrics from the stash 😉
