NEW Assessed Case ⚠️⚠️⚠️

It seems these days we all have someone close to us or know someone going through cancer. This week, we met our sister Maryam, who has 6 children, is a single mother, and was told she has 3rd stage cancer.

Maryam has had to start her treatments straight away, the drs are giving her a small chance of recovery. Because of her diagnosis, Maryam has not been able to work, her eldest child, who works at a fast food place, is the only one old enough to work, the rest are still at school. No family in our community should be left to face this alone. Maryam is behind on rent for 2 weeks and has been issued a formal warning from her real estate. Her eldest childs earnings only cover their basic food necessities. Maryam's elderly parents try to help as much as they can, but this family needs help from their community. New Assessed Case⚠️⚠️⚠️

This week, we met a mother who is suffering every parents nightmare. Our sister "Sahar" was just beginning to piece her life back together after leaving a womans refuge, when she was dealt the most devastating news a parent could imagine: her youngest child was diagnosed with cancer.
A struggling single mother already battling depression , already struggling to make a safe home life for her little family, is now watching her child fight for their life.

Despite her personal battles, she continues to fight for her beautiful children with everything she has. Her days are filled with hospital visits and sleepless nights. Sahar only receives centrelink, which barely helps after all bills are accounted for.

NEW Assessed Case ⚠️

Salams everyone,

This year, we said goodbye to Fatina, a sister who lost her fight to cancer, a beautiful natured single mother known for her kindness and compassion. Fatina leaves behind 4 children, the oldest now responsible for her siblings. It was their mother's worst nightmare to leave this earth without her children being looked after as their father had been out of the picture for years and refused contact. Fatina's cancer spread rapidly once diagnosed, and her passing was so sudden that she did not have the time or energy to secure her children financially for when she passed.
This week, we checked in on the young siblings to find they are behind in rent and bills.
Who will help us get these orphans back on track? Since losing their mother, grief has overcome the youngest two, who are yet to return to their normal routines. The eldest is working as much as she can to keep a roof over their head, the same roof their mother raised them in for several years. NEW Assessed Case ⚠️⚠️⚠️

Salams members,

This week, I would like to introduce you all to our sister Heyam, who is fighting an aggressive cancer. Heyam is a single mother who looks after her 4 children by herself. Because Heyam has had to be admitted to the hospital recently, her children are being cared for by her elderly mother, Heyams only family. I went to visit Heyam at the hospital to find out how we can help. Our sister was very weak, yet appreciative I had come to see her. It was one of the nurses there who was from our community that contacted me about Heyam. When I asked how we could help, she replied, "Please, take care of my children if i dont make it out." I assured her we would. Due to Heyams cancer, she has not been able to work and has fallen behind in rent. She worries she won't have a home to go back to if she does make it out.

I then left to go to her mums house to meet the children.
Her mother's tiny apartment could barely fit the kids, 2 bedrooms, yet the children had made themselves beds in the living room with blankets so they could sleep together. They are all under 14 and missing their mother dearly. We need to help this family members, while our sister Heyam fights for her life in hospital, it is our duty to make sure her kids are looked after properly. We are in need of beds, matresses, food vouchers to help Heyams mother care for the children, and we will also be collecting funds for Heyams bills while she is in hospital.
