The Music Teachers' Association of NSW is the peak professional organisation for studio music teachers of all instruments.

The Music Teachers’ Association of NSW is the peak body for instrumental and vocal teachers in New South Wales. Founded in 1912, we aim to support music teachers, and protect the character and status of the profession. We are the Accrediting body for music teachers in NSW, encouraging high standards of music teaching and learning. We provide professional development, social connection, information

and support for music teachers, as well as performance and learning opportunities for their students. Membership is open to all music teachers and supporters in NSW, including:

*music teachers in private studios
*peripatetic music teachers in schools
*music teachers in multi-teacher businesses
*music teachers in Regional Conservatoriums
*supporters of music education everywhere

We welcome all music teachers! Accreditation is not a condition of membership of the MTA. We do hope that all teachers will want to become accredited, and we aim to support teachers in their journey to accreditation, with guidance and financial assistance.

What an incredible weekend at the Advanced Scholarship Challenge!

We are thrilled to celebrate the resounding success of this weekend's event! From piano and strings to winds and beyond, our talented musicians blew us away with an extraordinary variety of instruments and truly outstanding performances.

A massive thank you to our esteemed adjudicators, Andrew Rumsey and Anthony van den Broek, for sharing their expertise, invaluable feedback, and dedication to inspiring the next generation of performers.

What an incredible afternoon of music!

We are still buzzing from our Masterclass with the brilliant Dr Kara Huber on March 29th. It was a privilege to watch our students step up for their one-on-one performances and receive such personalized attention.

The highlight of the session was Kara’s focus on the "how-to." Rather than just fixing notes, she provided each student with concrete practice strategies and tailored tips to take home. Our students walked away with a clear roadmap on how to refine their technique and elevate their pieces during their daily practice sessions.

A huge thank you to Kara for sharing her expertise and giving our students the tools to become more intentional, effective musicians. We can’t wait to hear how these new strategies transform your playing!
