Flourish Australia

Flourish Australia Flourish Australia, leaders in complex mental health support. Flourish Australia today is the result of a proud 60-year history.

Known as RichmondPRA from 2012 to 2016, Flourish Australia’s origins stem from the successful amalgamation of two longstanding mental health organisations, the Richmond Fellowship of NSW and Psychiatric Rehabilitation Australia (PRA). Our mission of working together for optimal mental health and wellbeing is the continuance of the dedication of our founding organisations. We continue the legacy of

recovery-oriented community support, a fundamental commitment to improving outcomes for people with a lived experience of a mental health issue, and the pursuit of independence and a contributing life. As an organisation we strive to ensure our professionalism and expertise are balanced by our personal connections. Flourish Australia reflects the good heart that everyone in this organisation has – they simply wouldn’t be here without it.

Proposed NDIS changes risk leaving people behind

The Australian Psychosocial Alliance is raising concerns about the NDIS Amendment Bill 2026. Without major changes, the Bill could further limit access to support for people with psychosocial disability—many of whom are already missing out. Tightening access without building strong community supports risks increasing crisis, pressure on hospitals, and strain on families.

The Alliance is calling for the Bill to be delayed and strengthened in partnership with people with lived experience.

We are pleased to share a new publication contributing to the evidence base for improved health outcomes for people living with complex mental health challenges.

This paper highlights the critical role of community-managed organisations in addressing physical health inequities. It calls for coordinated, system-wide action to ensure people receive the holistic care and support they need.

At Flourish Australia, this research reinforces the importance of integrated, person-centred approaches that support both mental and physical wellbeing.

Reconciliation starts with listening and learning.

This National Reconciliation Week, we’re taking time to better understand the histories, cultures and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

This year’s theme, All In, reminds us that everyone has a role to play.
