The purpose of the club was to provide mateship, welfare and rehabilitation of returned service personnel. The RSL Sub-Branch provides an open and welcoming venue at which its members, and their families, receive the benefit
s of ongoing support and assistance. The Swansea RSL Sub-Branch Inc. includes a bar and lounge with Keno and UBet and Bistro which serves great meals at reasonable prices. Meat raffles are held on a Friday night are a great attraction. Members also enjoy an 8 ball club, which plays at other venues around the state. The Swansea RSL Sub-Branch Inc., has a Board of 10 members, 12 staff, volunteers and 350 members. organise many functions including ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day services. The parade is a highlight of the day and incorporates the Swansea Primary school, Drum Corp, Emergency Services and other community clubs. Health Week was held last year, which was a great success, with the Book Launch for the May Shaw Health Centre. Christmas in July and the Hungi nights are well patronised. Business lunches have been organized for the Probus Club, CWA and various other organizations. The future direction of the club is to provide an area for the benefit of the members and the wider community. This area will be available for functions, teleconferences, education and training sessions, lunches, wedding receptions, birthday celebrations and wakes, health and fitness programs, with the catering provided by the Swansea RSL Sub-Branch Bistro.
