Thank you, Brothers Sports Club!

Our President, Sheryl Parker, was thrilled to present Don and Kim from Brothers Sports Club with a Legacy bear and a Certificate of Appreciation, in recognition of the club’s fantastic support of our Trivia Night and Music Bingo fundraisers.

Bundaberg Legacy is truly humbled by the generosity Brothers has shown us. The team welcomed us with genuine warmth, promoted the events , handled ticketing and looked after our guests and volunteers on the night. A special mention to Jarrod and Kim, whose energy and good humour as hosts made both nights so much fun for everyone in the room.

Every dollar raised stays right here in our region. Since 1948, Bundaberg Legacy has cared for local families of veterans who have lost their lives or their health through their service, helping young people with education costs, supporting widows to stay safe and independent at home, and making sure no Legacy family feels forgotten.

This is a partnership with a very bright future, and we’re already looking forward to bringing back Trivia and Music Bingo next year. Thank you to everyone who came along, played along and bought raffle tickets. We can’t wait to see you all again! 🧸

Today is War Widows Day, and we were honoured to welcome our Legacy widows to Legacy House for a special High Tea.

War Widows Day is held each year on 19 October, the birthday of Jessie Vasey. When her husband, Major General George Vasey, was killed in 1945 while en route to New Guinea, Jessie saw first-hand how little support existed for women left to carry on alone after losing a husband to war. That same year she founded the War Widows’ Guild, now Australian War Widows, and spent the rest of her life fighting for fair pensions, housing and recognition for war widows and their families. Queensland was among the first states to formally recognise the day, and since 2024 it has been marked right across the country.

Jessie Vasey’s story is one our widows know well. Many of the women we support have faced that same loss and that same long road, raising families, keeping homes together and quietly carrying the weight of their partner’s service. Their strength is the reason Legacy exists, and their friendship is what makes Legacy House feel like home. Today was a chance to stop, share a cuppa, tasty treat and remember.

A heartfelt thank you to Betty and our wonderful volunteers, who planned, baked, set the tables and served with such care. You made the day truly special, and we are so grateful for everything you give.

To all war widows and widowers, in Bundaberg and across Australia, we remember your loved ones and we honour you.

A big thank you to the wonderful team at Brothers Sports Club for getting behind Bundaberg Legacy with their King's Birthday Music Bingo promotion.

Brothers has been a generous friend to Legacy, and once again they've found a fun way to bring our community together while supporting the families we care for.

Every dollar raised stays right here in the Bundaberg region, helping widows, children and families of veterans who have given so much for our country.

To Ross, Kim, Jarrod and the whole Brothers crew, thank you for your continued support. We're so grateful to have you in our corner.

A huge thank you to everyone who came out to the Bundaberg Legacy Annual Golf Day on Saturday 19 September. The sun was shining, the Two Person Ambrose teams were in fine form, and a fantastic day of golf was had by all.
