We are so proud to share that our wonderful Legatee volunteer Trish was recently recognised with a Queensland Day Award, presented by our patron Tom Smith MP.
It was fantastic to see Trish acknowledged for her tireless efforts in raising awareness for our veterans and their families, and for shining a light on the incredible contribution of service animals.
Trish, your dedication to our Legacy family and the broader veteran community is truly inspiring. This recognition is so well deserved and we could not be prouder to have you as part of the Bundaberg Legacy family.

A huge thank you to the wonderful staff and residents at Palm Lakes at Bargara for having us recently.

We thoroughly enjoyed hosting an information session for residents, covering some really valuable topics around navigating My Aged Care and DVA services. The engagement was fantastic — so many great questions were asked and we hope everyone left feeling more informed and empowered.

Our professional wellbeing and compensation advocate service, led by Liz, is based right here at Legacy House — and we're always here to help you or your loved ones find the right support.

What an incredible day at the Bundaberg Regional Council 2026 Volunteering Showcase! Our wonderful volunteers were out in force today, sharing information with community members keen to make a difference.

We are currently looking for kind-hearted people to join our team and support our veterans and their families. If you have a compassionate spirit and a desire to give back, we'd love to hear from you!

We have opportunities for:

Vehicle drivers — helping transport participants to and from our programs
Gardeners — lending a hand in the gardens of our widows
Fundraisers — helping us raise vital funds for our cause
Morning tea & lunch helpers — assisting with the preparation and serving of meals and social gatherings

Behind every returned bottle or can is a family right here in Bundaberg — a widow who doesn't have to face the bills alone, a child who still gets to go on the school camp, a veteran's family who knows their community hasn't forgotten them.

Bundaberg Legacy has been keeping that promise since 1948. And with your help, we'll keep keeping it.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to Faye and the incredible team at the Howard Community Centre for their generous donation to Bundaberg Legacy!

This wonderful contribution will go directly towards supporting the widows, children, and dependants of local Australian Defence Force veterans — providing financial assistance, combating loneliness, and helping veteran families thrive.

We have recently heard the news that the Centre will be closing soon, and we want the whole team to know just how much their community spirit and compassion has meant to so many. We wish each and every one of them all the very best for their future endeavours.

On Anzac Day — a day that honours the courage and spirit of those who served — a very special competition took place in Victoria. The National Extreme Cowboy Challenge brought together riders from across the country to test their skill, horsemanship, and heart through a demanding series of natural terrain obstacles.

We are so proud to share that our very own Natalie made the trip to Victoria with her horse Kiowa and competed at the national level — bringing home an Encouragement Award in the process.

What a fantastic result! It takes real dedication to compete on the national stage, and Natalie and Kiowa should be incredibly proud of everything they've achieved.

Keep an eye out for Natalie's full story in an upcoming Bundaberg Today article — we can't wait for you to read it!

Bundaberg Legacy is proud to support Natalie on her journey and we look forward to cheering her and Kiowa on to even greater success in future competitions. The best is yet to come!
