You’re doing your part to recycle—but is the industry?

Australians are being let down by a battery recycling scheme that lacks transparency and accountability. Recent findings show that batteries collected via B-cycle points are often landfilled or even burnt, despite millions of dollars being paid out in rebates.

This isn't just an environmental issue—it's a safety issue. Poor recycling oversight leads to dangerous kerbside disposal and fire risks.

We are calling on Environment Ministers to fast-track a regulated national agreement. We deserve a recycling system we can trust.

🚨Public Rally against plastic grass at Callan Park🚨

The Inner West Council is seeking to install two plastic soccer fields in the grounds of the historic Callan Park. As recent research by our project has demonstrated, synthetic grass is a major and increasing source of microplastic pollution in our waterways.

One of these proposed fields is mere meters from Iron Cove, which feeds into Sydney Harbour. We are speaking up against these fields.

Synthetic fields regularly contain PFAS and other carcinogenic chemicals; they overheat in summer, contributing to the urban heat effect and risking burns to children playing, and do not absorb water during rain events like natural soil does, increasing stormwater runoff.

We will be joining the Friends of Callan Park this Saturday at 11am at the Cecily Street gates of Callan Park in Lilyfield.
