Australian Pregnancy Hypertension Foundation Limited The Foundation was established in 2023 to continue the work carried out by PEARLS since 2002 in preventing preeclampsia - one of the deadliest and most common complications of pregnancy.

When we first established PEARLS in 2002 it was not known what causes preeclampsia. This condition had been baffling scientists and doctors for over 100 years. Our critical aim at that time was to find that cause. Since our modest beginnings in 2002 the scientists supported by the Foundation , Professor Annemarie Hennessy and her team , have been extremely successful. There have been some world leading breakthoughs in their research and Professor Hennessy and her team are regarded as leaders in the world in preeclampsia research.
