When funding is cut, families don't need spin. They need support.⁠
⁠
With many clients facing reductions of up to 50% in community participation funding, we know many families are worried about what comes next.⁠
⁠
This is what we discussed at our recent Client & Family Forum in Tasmania.⁠
Not to tell people everything will be fine.⁠
⁠
But to have honest conversations about what's changing, what the risks are, and how we can plan together.⁠
⁠
As a not-for-profit, this is where we choose to invest our time and resources.⁠
This is not the time to wait and see, we are working alongside families right now, helping them understand their options, prepare for reviews, and build plans that protect opportunities, connection and quality of life.⁠

Because when funding changes, the impact is real.⁠
⁠
Supporting people through change isn't about providing a fact sheet. It's about showing up, answering questions, and making sure nobody has to navigate uncertainty alone.⁠

Anyone can talk about quality care. The real test is what you do about it.

This week, our Home and Living Practice Leaders came together in Tasmania to do the work behind the words.

They challenged each other, shared ideas, and focused on one question:
How do we create more value for the people we support?

Because Better Days don't happen by accident.

They come from investing in great leaders, building stronger frontline practice, lifting quality, and making sure every decision starts with the client.

As a not-for-profit, we are there for the client only. Every dollar goes back into stronger practice, better support and better outcomes for our clients.

Building Better Days starts with strong practice. Not lip service. Not buzzwords. Not ticking boxes.

There’s plenty happening at Able these October school holidays!

We have two action-packed weeks planned for Able’s October Vacation Care in Tasmania, with plenty of opportunities to have fun with friends, try new things and build skills along the way.

From bowling, swimming and ZooDoo to pizza making, arts and crafts, Richmond and TMAG, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Activities are designed to support young people to:

🔹get out and explore the community

🏎️ Confidence in the driver's seat!

A recent visit to Hyperdrive Kart Racing gave Eric, Aaron and friends the chance to experience the excitement of go-kart racing while developing valuable life skills along the way.

They followed safety procedures, made quick decisions, stayed focused under pressure and built confidence as they completed laps around the track. Most importantly, they shared a fun experience with friends and enjoyed being active in their local community.

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, including the Des Cooper Foundation, opportunities like this continue to help people build confidence, independence and connection. 💙

From volunteering to her first job interview, Leanne is one step closer to paid employment. 💙

After four years of building her skills through volunteer work, Leanne set herself a new goal: to find a paid job.

She’s been applying for roles, developing her computer and communication skills and preparing for interviews.

Then came an exciting milestone, Leanne landed her first job interview. 🎉

She practised interview questions, researched the company, planned what to wear and travelled across town to give it her best shot.

While the search for the right role continues, Leanne is building experience and confidence along the way.
