📣 Community Notice 📣
Thanks to Ambulance Tasmania, we were successful in obtaining a grant for an AED (Automated External Defibrillator), which has now been installed at Surges Bay Hall.
Whilst we hope nobody in our community ever needs it, having an AED readily available could make a critical difference in an emergency. It's important that everyone knows it's there and feels confident using it if required.
If you'd like to familiarise yourself with the AED, you can watch a short training video here:

We also encourage community members to register with GoodSAM, a free app that helps connect emergency services, community responders and lifesaving equipment when every second counts.

A huge thank you to Ambulance Tasmania for helping make our community a little safer. ❤️
Please take a few minutes to watch the training video and register with GoodSAM—you never know when that knowledge could help save a life.

🍄🌿 Homeschool Franklin Forest Walk 🌿🍄
Assuming the rain has cleared as forecast, we'll be heading to Franklin tomorrow afternoon to explore the forest and discover the incredible fungi, mosses and winter wonders hidden amongst the trees.

📍 Meet at the Loop Car Park 🕐 Monday, 1:00pm
Please come prepared for wet and muddy conditions underfoot. Sturdy footwear, warm layers and weather-appropriate clothing are strongly recommended, as the forest is likely to be quite damp after the recent rain.

Children are encouraged to bring a journal, sketch pad, clipboard or flip chart to record observations, sketch fungi and capture their discoveries along the way.
This is a relaxed opportunity for children to connect with nature, practise observation skills, get creative and enjoy learning together outdoors.

We'll confirm tomorrow morning if conditions change, but we're looking forward to getting out amongst the trees and seeing what treasures we can find! 🍂🍄🌿

This National Volunteer Week we want to say a huge heartfelt thank you to every single volunteer who has been part of Surges Bay Supporters and our wider community.

Past and present, every cake baked, chair stacked, raffle sold, market setup, message answered, load carried, idea shared and helping hand offered has helped create something truly special. Community doesn’t happen by accident — it happens because people choose to show up for each other.

A special thank you too to the “unofficial” volunteers — the people who quietly stay back to pack up tables, pick up rubbish, wash dishes, sweep floors or lend a hand without ever being asked. Those little acts never go unnoticed and mean more than you know.

We also want to acknowledge the families of our volunteers, who support the time, energy and commitment that goes into community events and projects. Behind every volunteer is often a family helping make it possible.

If you’ve ever thought about getting involved, helping at events, sharing ideas or volunteering in any way big or small, we would absolutely love to hear from you. New volunteers are always welcome to join our beautiful community. 🤍
