🌸 Homeschool Group – Flower Art & Craft 🌸

This week we'll be finishing off our flower-themed art and craft creations in preparation for this weekend's Dover Flower Show! 🌷🎨

As always, there will be plenty of options for everyone, with the toy room, book library, arts and crafts, and lots of space to play on the oval.

All families are welcome to come along and join us for a relaxed afternoon of creativity, play and connection.

🌼 If you're thinking of attending, please let us know! There is a small chance we may need to reschedule due to illness, and we'd like to make sure we can keep everyone updated.

Following on from our last post regarding transport, we have been asked to share this request from Sam running the Huon Valley Transport Survey.

🚌 Volunteers wanted: Help improve transport in the Huon Valley

How do people get around the Huon Valley — and how could it work better? Circular Economy Huon is running a community survey to find out, and we're looking for volunteers to help make it happen.

You could help by:

Supporting people to complete the survey in person or over the phone

Handing out paper copies of the survey around the valley

Setting up and collecting survey dropboxes

Why get involved?

No minimum time commitment — contribute as much or as little as suits you

Free training provided at an in-person workshop in early September

A great chance to meet people in your community and learn hands-on research skills

Spring is on its way and we're getting ready for another fabulous day at Surges Bay Hall!

🚌 SHUTTLE BUS – EXPRESSION OF INTEREST

In conjunction with Far South Food Resilience, we're looking into the possibility of arranging a shuttle bus to bring people to the market from Dover → Surges Bay and Geeveston → Surges Bay.

This is just an expression of interest at this stage while we see whether there's enough demand to make it happen.

🌸 Floral Art & Family Fun! 🌸

This Monday we’re continuing our floral art theme with all things flowers! 🌼🎨

We’ll be drawing flowers, painting flowers, making flowers, creating art with flowers… and whatever else our imaginations come up with! 🌷💐

As always, everything is optional and you’re welcome to drop in and out as you please.

🌸 Homeschool Group - Flower Art at Surges Bay Hall – Tomorrow! 🌸

We’ll be at Surges Bay Hall tomorrow from 1–3pm, getting creative with flower art and practising some ideas in preparation for the Dover Flower Show in early September.

🌼 All families are welcome to join us! Bring along any flower art supplies you have that you’d like to use, or come and make use of what we have at the hall.

🍰 If you can, bring along a plate of food to share.

🗓️ Saturday 19th September (International Talk Like a Pirate Day)
⏰️ 5-9 pm

Come dressed as a pirate, captain, mermaid, sailor, sea creature... or anything fit for life on the high seas!

🎶 Belt out a few sea shanties
🏴‍☠️ Talk like a pirate
⚓ Enjoy a night of community fun, laughs and a little pirate mischief.

🌱🌷 SURGES BAY HOMESCHOOL GROUP – PLANTING DAY! 🌷🌱

This Monday we’re getting our hands dirty and planting up the gardens at Surges Bay Hall! 🌿

A HUGE thank you to our fabulous community for all the incredible bulb donations! 🌷🌼 We’ve been blown away by your generosity, and this hall is going to look blooming amazing when all those beautiful bulbs burst into flower!

We’d love to spend the afternoon getting them planted together, with plenty of time for the kids to explore, play and enjoy some homeschool group fun too. 💚

Bring along gardening gloves and a spade if you have them, and a plate of food to share if you’d like to contribute to afternoon tea. 🧤🌱🍪
