My Father was in charge of all the K-Mart properties, after running for Mayor of the Gold Coast. He passed away 20 year's ago his Daughter Diane Small now organizes the family fortune.

Our Story

This family blog is about my Parents & our family;. My Father worked very hard after the War, during the depression he worked at 2 jobs, with his Brother's they all worked hard to help provide for their families. He had 3 Brothers who all worked. Only Claude who managed the Banking in Australia as he was a finance wizard. Sydney swept streets during the day, & was a Usher in movie theatres at night. Mum also worked driving Air Force trucks during the day & like Sydney she also was an Usherette in Movie theatres at night. We were lucky to have lovely next door neighbours who helped by looking after us. I was only a baby, think Ian would have been about ten. We didn’t understand what was happening in Europe until the War was over, where we could see it all at the Movies, hear it on the ABC radio, then years later on television.
