Suncoast Social Dancers

From the outset, it was intended that all proceeds from the dances would be donated to non-profit organizations to enable them to carry out their worthwhile activities for the benefit of both the local and wider community.

After more than twenty years of continuous operation, Suncoast Social Dancers has donated several hundred thousand dollars to help organizations such as:

These are but a few of the organizations that have been supported. Donations are made possible only through the continued patronage of our dancers.

The First Twenty Years:

The inseparable team of Mike, Rita, Pam and Lewis ran dances, including special theme events, for twenty years, sometimes with over 150 dancers in attendance.

Mike was always the ‘front man’, with his big voice and personality always filling whatever venue was in use at the time. Rita, Pam, and Lewis were always working in the background to keep the dances running smoothly.

Suncoast Social Dancers took a heavy blow when Mike passed away on 12th August, 2017, after a courageous battle with illness. He left a void that will never be filled. Even while ill, Mike took steps to ensure that both the dancing and community assistance that Suncoast Social Dancers had provided for twenty years would continue.

The Future:

Suncoast Social Dancers will continue to run dances on the Sunshine Coast, will continue to provide enjoyment to all who attend these dances, and will continue to donate all proceeds to worthwhile charities and organizations.
