Our group Second Stitch Collective is a non-for-profit informal group, and is excited to be able to collaborate and work together with the Glass House Mountains Community Hall to bring our local community its own sewing destash event.

Tables are $20 each, with chairs provided inside a fully air-conditioned hall.

Huge thanks to Country & Maleny News for printing a story about the Sustainable Sewing Sessions we host in collaboration with the House Mountains Community Hall on the 4th Sunday of each month. The September session is on from 11am-2pm today. It's very informal - you can even just pop in to say 'hi' and check out what happens at the Sewcial Sewing/Sustainable Sewing mornings.

One of our regulars, Hannah (featured in the story) is a very creative upcycler. She buys clothes at op shops and then reimagines them into one-of-a-kind upcycled garments.

Had a fantastic time at the Shepherd Australia Ocean Defence Tour last night. We were absolutely delighted to be invited to run the silent auction table alongside Studio. Was a great opportunity to chat with people about how our clothing/textile choices affect the health of our oceans and the animals that live in them.

Remember how in July, the European Union banned large companies from destroying unsold clothing…

This month, France has implemented the toughest laws a country has imposed on fast fashion e-commerce brands responsible for manufacturing and selling millions of garments each year (Shein and Temu).

Unfortunately, while the average Australian buys around 13 more garments each year than their French counterparts, our country has no legal restrictions on the sale of fast fashion or the wastage of fast fashion items. This needs to change!

Brands like Shein and Temu which list millions of garment products on their websites will be hit hard by a fee on items for French consumers.
