Maroochydore VIEW Club

Maroochydore VIEW Club Founded in 2001, our club is one of the many VIEW Clubs of Australia and sponsors 13 Learning for Life students.

With more than 14000 members nation-wide, VIEW supports disadvantaged children through The Smith Family Learning for Life Program. Maroochydore VIEW Club members share fun and friendship over a beautiful lunch on the fourth Friday of each month. Our venue is the top floor of Maroochy Surf Club, overlooking a magnificent stretch of the Sunshine Coast. A variety of informative and interesting guest

speakers entertain and inspire us at our meetings. At each lunch there are raffle and lucky door prizes, as well as book and bring and buy stalls. Each month we also have a social outing, which can be a restaurant lunch, a theatre day, a river cruise or a themed event. These social occasions are a great way to make friends, particularly if you are new to the Sunshine Coast. We also have a monthly coffee morning and book clubs. Maroochydore VIEW Club is part of the network of VIEW Clubs of Australia, founded by The Smith Family in 1960 for the purpose of promoting the Voice, Interests and Education of Women. The success of VIEW has led to a membership of approximately 14000 in about 300 clubs across Australia. Maroochydore Club currently sponsors 10 Smith Family Learning for Life students, enabling them to gain the most from their education through this wonderful Smith Family program. A highlight of each year is our Walk With a VIEW, through which members raise funds for the Learning for Life program through sponsorship. Most of us have sponsored our family members in walkathons and other fund raising ventures so this is our chance to get our children and grandchildren to sponsor us for a change. Why don’t you come along and see what our VIEW Club is all about? We always look forward to welcoming new members.

The ladies all looked fabulous on Friday in their jungle and animal prints, a theme in keeping the topic of our guest speaker. Brian Bassett is the author of “Blood, Sweat and Fears”, about his time in Africa as a conservation volunteer with some hair raising encounters of the wild kind, with beautiful up close photos taken by his wife Sue. A very enjoyable lunch and thanks to our bakers for delicious after lunch treats, fundraising for our Smith Family children with book sales, the produce table and sale of raffle tickets.
