The Rotary team were out and about this morning cooking up breakfast at 92.7 MixFM's outside broadcast at Marjac Automotive for Gimme5 and Wishlist. Our Solstice Swim Ambassador Susie Maroney and Rotary's Megan Jenkins were live on air promoting the Solstice Swim with part of the proceeds raised going to Wishlist.

We also had Courtney Bruce and Donnell Wallam from the Sunshine Coast Lightning drop by.

A great community morning supporting Gimme5 - Wishlist

This weeks meeting was about a fantastic program for youth at the Old Church Nambour presented by Lauren Charman from IFYS.

The Old Church is a youth accommodation program that provides 21 beds for young people aged 16-25 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. The Old Church invests in supporting young people who are engaged in education and/or employment, or who are highly motivated to engage in employment and/or education. Young people will be provided a safe space to work, learn and live while working towards their goals with the support of youth development workers.

See the attached flyer for the eligibility and costs.

Alex Rotary are proud to have been able to support the program and if anyone is able to assist contact details are on the flyer also.

This weeks meeting was an external excursion with a breakfast gathering at Harvest in the Maroochydore CBD followed by a tour of the Sunshine Coast Council building with our local Councillor Joe Natoli. Joe discussed the CBD background and plans going forward.

It was great to hear the innovation in the planning process and many of the sustainability and efficiency measures built into the Council Building and the CBD as a whole.

It is an exciting time for the Sunshine Coast.

A huge thank you to Cr Joe Natoli and Tracey Holmes for taking the time out of their busy schedules.
