🎊 Welcome to our Forest Glen Op Shop!

📍 The shop is located at 343 Mons Rd.
🕘 Open weekdays 9am to 4.30pm, Saturdays 9am to 1pm.

⛪ The former Forest Glen Methodist Church, built around 1919, has evolved from a cherished place of worship into a character-filled home for local shops, artists and makers.

We’re thrilled to become part of its next chapter with the opening of our tenth Op Shop - a place to shop, donate, volunteer and connect for the Forest Glen community.

Our General Manager, Mervat Quirke, said Bloomhill has supported locals living with cancer for almost 30 years, providing nursing and therapeutic care to improve quality of life.

“Our Bloomhill Op Shops are the engine room behind our work. Without ongoing government funding, we rely on every donation, purchase and volunteer hour to help fund the services our clients depend on.

“When you shop or donate with us, you’re not just finding a bargain. You’re directly supporting Sunshine Coast families impacted by cancer, while helping reduce landfill and the impact of fast fashion.”

📦 We're always in need of good-quality donations, especially clothing and homewares, and we offer collections for large items you wish to donate.

📞 Simply contact our Distribution Centre on 07 5445 6858 to make donating easy.

Thank you to the mighty Kawana Park Eagles JAFC for their Pink Sports Day, raising $3,500 for our cancer community 🧡

The day was inspired by a remarkable member of their club who wanted to give back after receiving support from Bloomhill during her own cancer journey. From that simple idea came something truly special.

🩷 From volunteers on the BBQ and families baking, to businesses donating raffle prizes, committee members working tirelessly behind the scenes and players proudly embracing the day in pink, it was a wonderful reminder of what community looks like.

A special shout-out to Sara Bravo, whose passion and dedication brought the day to life 👏

To everyone who gave their time, donated, bought a raffle ticket, or simply came along to support, thank you!

Your generosity ensures families on the Sunshine Coast impacted by cancer can continue to access the care and support they need, close to home.

📸 Welcome to the Bloomhill Recreation and Wellness Studio.

A reflection of our commitment to growing alongside the needs of our community, it's a space that ensures more locals have access to movement, rehabilitation, wellbeing and connection throughout their cancer journey.

One of the highlights of the morning was hearing from Bloomhill client Kaye, who reminded us that while buildings evolve, our purpose remains the same - supporting people to live well through and beyond their cancer journey 🧡

The opening of this new space gave us a chance to celebrate everyone in our community who made this possible.

🙏 Our sincere thanks to Hand Heart Pocket for their generous donation, Justin and the team at Cooke & Dowsett Plumbing Group, and Luke and the team at CV Services Group for their generous and kind support in helping bring this space to life.

We're very grateful to all of the businesses and individuals who contributed so generously along the way.

We know this space will make a meaningful difference for so many people, and we can't wait to see the lives it touches in the years ahead!

📣 New Café menu!!
The Bloomhill Café now has an All-Day Menu, in addition to yummy cabinet food, coffees, teas, smoothies, and shakes.

Café Coordinator, Tatiane Dotta, says one of the new items she's most excited about is the Chicken and Brie Toastie.

🗣️ "I love the combination of flavours, and I think it’s a delicious and comforting option, especially during the cooler months.

"The new menu has been created to bring fresh, exciting options to the Café while continuing to offer the quality and value our community loves.

"Our Café is a special gathering place where visitors, volunteers, clients, and the wider community can connect, share conversations, and enjoy a sense of belonging.

"Every visit helps support the welcoming and wellbeing-focused atmosphere that makes Bloomhill so unique." 🧡

Over the past decade, Ruth has volunteered across almost all aspects of our services 🧡

🗣️ "Originally from Tasmania, my husband and I chose to settle in Buderim 14 years ago. It didn’t take long for me to feel a strong connection to this community, and volunteering at Bloomhill felt like a natural way to give back to a place that has given us so much.

"From driving clients to their medical appointments, to preparing food in the café, and working alongside a wonderful group of talented women sorting and repurposing donated jewellery - each role has offered its own sense of purpose.

"Working in the Op Shop has been a highlight. I’ve loved the connection with the local community, whether it’s helping customers find something special, ensuring items are presented with care and respect, or simply sharing a conversation.

"There are small, joyful moments that stay with you, like watching children light up as they head straight to the toy and book section, or hearing the excitement from the change rooms as someone finds the perfect outfit.

"What truly makes volunteering at Bloomhill so special, though, is the friendships formed along the way.

"Being surrounded by like-minded people, all giving their time with kindness and generosity, it's hard to put into words.

"There’s a shared sense of purpose and warmth that makes every shift feel worthwhile. You get more than you give - and that's certainly been my experience."

Camilla is one of our awesome café team members 🧡

🗣️ "I’m from Brazil and have been living in Australia with my family for the past three years.

"Last year started volunteering at Bloomhill after a friend told me about the opportunity. At that time, my father in Brazil was going through cancer, and being so far away was very difficult.

"Volunteering became something very meaningful to me. It gave me the opportunity to connect with others, support people facing cancer here on the Sunshine Coast, and at the same time grow in my English and confidence.

"The Wellness Centre Café, with its calm and caring environment, brought me comfort and a strong sense of purpose.

"I also truly love coffee and appreciate a good café, which makes this experience even more special.

"Being part of Bloomhill has been an enriching journey - not only for improving my English, but also for growing as a person."

🚐 Give it up for Alan, our volunteer driver of more than a decade!

Alan and his wife Michelle moved to Buderim in 2013, and after settling into their home, enquired about volunteering in the Buderim community.

Given cancer featured in both of their family histories, Bloomhill was an ideal opportunity to give back to their new local community 🧡

Michelle’s extensive experience in not-for-profits enabled her to make a valuable contribution as a Director, and later as Chairperson, for Bloomhill.

Alan signed up as a Bloomhill driver, an ideal fit, as he could schedule driving tasks around his consulting work commitments.

Alan has always found volunteering a ‘two-way street’.

🗣️ “I've found drivers can be the first face-to-face and often most frequent contact with clients who are completing therapy programs, so we're often unofficial ambassadors.

“I get considerable satisfaction from belonging to such a wonderful organisation. I enjoy meeting the clients, sharing our stories, getting them to their appointments on time and getting their home with a minimum of fuss.

“After 13 years of driving clients, I’m yet to meet one who doesn't fully appreciate the wonderful services provided by Bloomhill and particularly the support provided by the transport team.”

Volunteering opportunities are now available across our Bloomhill services, including:

Meet the sisters volunteering at our Café! 🤩

Callie and Sofiya have been serving delicious coffees and food every week for a couple months now, along with their mum from time to time 🧡

Sofiya enjoys volunteering at the Bloomhill Café, where she gets to put her barista skills to good use ☕

🗣️ “There's something really rewarding about making a great cup of coffee for someone, and I love being able to do something I genuinely enjoy while also contributing to a good cause.

“And knowing my time is going toward giving back to the community makes the experience all the more rewarding.”

Callie says volunteering at Bloomhill has been such a great experience.

“I really enjoy getting to improve my coffee-making skills and trying out new things, all in a really fun and welcoming environment.

“But what I really enjoy is knowing that I'm giving back to the community and making a difference, even in a small way. It's something I'm really proud to be a part of.”
