💥Dulong Quarry Blast Notice💥

Council has advised Dulong residents of a blast at Dulong Quarry scheduled for Tuesday 30 September between 9am and 3pm (weather permitting).

Please safely secure your homes, pets and livestock on that day.

Also please share this info with your Dulong friends and neighbours.

Since July 2025 Council ceased making mailbox drop quarry notifications and only make email notices. If you haven't already done so I would highly recommend signing up for quarry email notices by using the following link:

Public submissions for the Sunshine Coast Planning Scheme have now closed.

Thank you so much to every single resident who took the time to write a quarry submission seeking better protections and rights for residents living with Council's own Dulong and Image Flat quarries.

Also enormous thanks to community organisations MADCA, BRLUPA, MVA, SCEC, OSCAR, Range Community News and Mapleton Library for your fabulous support in endorsing our submission campaign and for submitting your own submissions both on quarry issues and equally important broader hinterland matters.

It's not known how long Council will take to evaluate the public submissions received and formulate their summaries and public reports. We'll get back to you here on FB to advise of any updates as these come to hand.

These are out to help our hinterland community take important steps to protect themselves and our beautiful Blackall Range environment by seeking improved Dulong and Image Flat quarry planning protections.

If you think your personal needs are more important than that then sadly you are a community wa**er and your self-interest isn't welcome or valued here.

Instead of stealing signs use your hands in a much more positive way and write your own submission seeking rightful quarry protections for yourself and your beautiful community 💚

Reminder: Council confirmed, in writing, that we can make 𝗺𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗯𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 (from the same entity or person) which may be accepted as separate submissions 𝗶𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗮𝗱𝗱𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘀𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗶𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗲𝘀/𝘁𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗰𝘀 and are not obvious repeat/duplicate submissions from the same source.
The pics below indicate the information required + your commentary, to ensure your submission is “𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗲” to meet State planning laws – otherwise it will be disregarded. Submissions close 19 September.
Council suggest, if possible, combine a few issues into 1 submission to assist with processing and handling of a large volume of feedback that council will receive during the consultation period and preferably via the online submission form on the Have your Say website.

Time to write your super-important quarry submissions to the Sunshine Coast Council Planning Scheme.

Use your all-important voice to demand improved development and operational protections and resident's rights for Dulong and Image Flat Council quarries.

These were removed by Council in 2014. Making Dulong and Image Flat the only 2 quarries in Qld without these adequate, expected and usual Planning Scheme protections.

Nice one Sunshine Coast Council!

Removing these rights and protections is completely unjustifiable. It definitely does not fulfil Council's obligations to follow the State Planning Regulation 2017.

Write your submission today and DEMAND THESE PROTECTIONS AND RIGHTS ARE IMMEDIATELY RETURNED for Dulong and Image Flat.

We demand equal protections to those provided for all Sunshine Coast private quarries.
