The 7th-13th of September is- Body Image and Eating Disorder Awareness Week!

This year’s theme, “Redefining Wellness, and the stories we are sold about health and our bodies,” invites us to look more closely at the messages shaping our ideas about health, food and wellbeing.

Wellness trends, diet culture and unverified advice can affect people in harmful ways. Recovery can include questioning these messages, setting boundaries around triggering conversations and accounts, and choosing support that values your whole wellbeing.

Keep an eye out for more content about BIEDAW over the coming days!

If you’re in Queensland and navigating eating disorder recovery, or supporting someone who is, endED is here to connect you with information and community support. Visit ended.org.au/contact-us/

👉We also wish to acknowledge that eating disorder recovery requires different levels of support, and there are many other organisations all over Queensland doing wonderful work, and you can access these details via our website too!

As we have entered the month of September, and in the last 4 months of the year, we wish to remind you of the importance in having boundaries!!!

These boundaries can look different for everyone, and isn't just about "saying no", instead they can act as ways to protect your physical and mental energy, so that you have space to look after yourself [even whilst navigating other areas of your world].

You may have noticed the word 'hope' or 'there is hope' being shared on this page or our website...So we wanted to shed some light on how the word 'hope' aligns with 'recovery'.

Whilst also identifying that 'to hold hope' doesn't mean the absence of fear or unknown. The cool thing about 'hope' too is that you may not always be the one holding onto it the strongest, you may have your team, friends or loved ones around you holding onto it.

Holding hope can mean something different for everyone. But it can be holding onto the possibility that even amidst the chaos of recovery, something different is possible...

Choice points can show up in various moments throughout the day...each one gives us a chance to move away from our values (often at the eating disorder's direction) or towards them, even when it's uncomfortable.

It is not about getting it "perfectly" every time, instead creating an awareness of these two, and practicing what it may look like to select these 'towards' moves.

This may be something you discuss with your team and consider 'what is going to make it easier to become closer to the life I see myself building?'

This Saturday is the day! It’s one you won’t want to miss (and the forecast is looking wonderful) ☀️☀️☀️

Come see what the Nurture Festival has to offer on THIS Saturday, September 5th, 11am–4pm at Mooloolaba Foreshore for a FREE, family-friendly celebration of youth mental wellness- packed with adventure, creativity, connection and heart.

endED’s co-founder, Mark Forbes founded the Nurture Festival, after seeing a wider gap opening up: a growing demand for youth mental health support that mainstream health services weren’t always reaching in the way young people needed.

Navigating recovery can come with its ebbs and flows. There are moments where certain elements feel more challenging than others [and this can feel difficult to navigate]. Sometimes these moments can be unexpected too.

We want you to reflect on -What may it look like to approach these times with self-compassion and seeing that 'at this time you are doing the absolute best with what you can'.
