NSW Family Day Care Association

NSW Family Day Care Association Family Day Care is home based early education and care. All Educators are registered with and supported by local Family Day Care services.

A Family Day Care service is a network of experienced and registered educators who provide care for other people’s children in their own homes. Educators have been carefully selected and supervised, and operate under the Education and Care Services National Regulations. Educators and services are accessed and rated against the National Quality Standard to ensure quality and continuous improvement.

Children aged between the age of 6 weeks and 13 years are nurtured in a small group setting and through the educator’s individualised programming, are encouraged to further develop their skills and knowledge. For further information on any Family Day Care service within NSW, please call us on 02 9779 9999, press 2 and ask to speak to a Family Day Care support facilitator.

Did you know, if you attend the live session, you receive a certificate of attendance.

Join Nicole Talarico to learn more about how children’s developing ideas and attitudes naturally emerge through their social interactions, and how you play a vital role in guiding safe, respectful behaviours with intentionality and attunement. Through play-based learning, we can challenge stereotypes, redirect aggression, support shared control and uphold each child’s agency, creating environments where fairness, consent, body autonomy and respectful relationships are actively explored.

Reminder! New Mandatory Cot Standards via ACCC.

From 19 January 2026, new mandatory standards for infant sleep products—including cots, folding cots, bassinets, and rockers—will apply across Australia to improve infant safety and reduce the risk of injury or death.

The updated rules target hazards like suffocation, choking, and entanglement to create safer sleep environments.

What Educators Should Do:
Review and update current sleep products and policies to meet the new standards.

Timeframe:
The new safety and information standards were introduced on 18 July 2024. Suppliers have 18 months to comply with their new obligations.
For household cots and folding cots, suppliers can continue to comply with the existing mandatory standards for these products during the transition period.
From 19 January 2026, suppliers must comply with the new standards.

Must read: https://www.productsafety.gov.au/business/search-mandatory-standards/infant-sleep-products-mandatory-standards

There is a new safety standard for the design, performance and testing of infant sleep products. There is a new information standard requiring warning and safety information for infant sleep products and non-sleep inclined products.
