Subiaco Playgroup Hosts Two Cultural Workshops During July School Holidays
Subiaco Playgroup welcomed families to a vibrant cultural experience with the first of its two special workshops held this holiday season.
On 9 July, the playgroup hosted a 🍃plant dyeing workshop 🍃that engaged children and their families in a creative exploration of natural colours and storytelling.
The event commenced at 9:00 AM with an enthusiastic turnout of 18 families eager to participate in the day's activities. Led by storyteller Roxy Lee, the workshop began with an engaging storytime session 📕that revolved around the theme of the four seasons. 🍃🍁🌞⛄️
Children were captivated as they listened to tales that celebrated nature's cycles and the beauty of seasonal changes.
Following the enriching storytime, the young participants were immersed in a hands-on painting activity. 🎨 Equipped with a variety of tools such as paint brushes and rollers, children enthusiastically embraced the opportunity to express their creativity. Using natural plants, they explored different colours and patterns, turning their ideas into vibrant artworks.
The plant dyeing workshop was a fantastic way for families to bond over creativity and cultural learning," remarked Ms Rosetine Sew, at Subiaco Playgroup. "It was heartening to see children and parents alike deeply engaged in the activities, inspired by both the stories shared and the hands-on painting experience." 🎨
The second workshop Traditional Chinese Ink Painting workshop with a turnout of 20 families kicked off with a captivating introduction to the 12 zodiac animals, 🐵🐯🐶🐭🐷🐰🐔🐍narrated by storyteller Roxy Lee. Children will delve into the legends and characteristics associated with each animal, fostering an understanding of Chinese culture and traditions.
A highlight of the workshop will be a spirited racing game, where children will participate based on their respective zodiac signs. This interactive activity aims to engage young participants while reinforcing cultural knowledge in a fun and memorable way.
Following the engaging activities, children will be guided by The Lantern Collective artist CiCI Sun in a hands-on ink painting session.🎨 ✍️ This segment will empower children to explore their artistic talents as they create their interpretations of the 12 zodiac animals using traditional Chinese painting techniques
