Meet our Rotarian “Engineer” 🧸 our newest and possibly most pampered Rotarian!

Engineer had an amazing week travelling around Sydney with our Past President Andrew Aravanis, visiting some fantastic places, enjoying the sights and clearly being treated like a VIP!

From the photo below, it looks like PP Andrew certainly spoiled Engineer and gave him a week to remember. We’re looking forward to hearing all about their adventures at our Rotary meeting.

But Engineer’s travels are also for a great cause. Each week, a Rotarian can make a donation to the Rotary Foundation, take Engineer on their own adventures, capture some memorable photos, and bring him back to share his story.

Where will Engineer go next? and who will be his next travelling companion?

Rotary's 4 Way Test

One of the world’s most widely printed and quoted statements of business ethics is The Four-Way Test, which was created in 1932 by Rotarian Herbert J. Taylor (who later served as RI president) when he was asked to take charge of a company that was facing bankruptcy.

This 24-word test for employees to follow in their business and professional lives became the guide for sales, production, advertising, and all relations with dealers and customers, and the survival of the company is credited to this simple philosophy. Adopted by Rotary in 1943, The Four-Way Test has been translated into more than a hundred languages and published in thousands of ways.

🧸 MEET ENGINEER — OUR NEWEST ROTARIAN!

His name is Engineer. Engineer was kindly given to me by Satnam Singh, a Past President of the Rotary Club of Granville. Satnam handed me this bear and said: “Take him and do whatever you want with him to raise money for a worthy cause.” So I've decided that Engineer is going to work for Rotary.

And unlike some Rotarians, Engineer doesn't complain, doesn't miss meetings, doesn't argue with the President, and hasn't asked for a leave of absence yet!

Here's how it's going to work.

Every week, we're going to find Engineer a new home.
Members can make a donation to our Rotary causes. Every week our highest donor gets to take Engineer home until our next meeting.

But there's one condition.

You have to take “Engineer” somewhere during the week and get a photo with him. Take him to your office. Take him to a restaurant. Take him to the golf course.Take him on holidays. OR Take him to meet the Mayor.
You can even take him to another Rotary Club — but please bring him back!

At our next meeting, we'll hear briefly about Engineer's Adventure of the Week, see the photo, share it on our social media channel, and then we'll find his next generous host.
We'll also give Engineer a little passport recording everywhere he's travelled, everyone who's looked after him, and most importantly, how much this little bear has raised for our community.

So, members…who would like to become Engineer's very first Guardian of the Week?

Remember — this isn't just a teddy bear. He's now a Rotarian, and like the rest of us, he's expected to raise some money!

Let's see where Engineer can travel during our Rotary year — and how much good one little bear can do.

An Aussie Icon in the Making! 🦖

On Wednesday, 15 July 2026, the Rotary Club of Strathfield had the privilege of hosting one of the most unique and unforgettable guest speakers we've ever welcomed.

At just 6 years old, Mason Webb took us on an incredible journey through Jurassic Park and the fascinating World of Dinosaurs. His remarkable knowledge, confidence, humour, and animated presentation style captivated the audience from beginning to end.

Many of us have attended countless presentations over the years, but never have we witnessed someone so young deliver such an engaging and entertaining talk. Mason had the room laughing, learning, and completely absorbed in every moment.

Wow! We truly believe we witnessed an Aussie icon in the making. His passion and confidence are inspiring, and we have no doubt he has a very bright future ahead.

It was an evening our members and guests will remember for years to come. 🦕
