Trust (SBRT). The role of the SBRC is to provide funding and support to existing and new community groups (large and small) which contribute to the renewal and development of the Strathewen community, to facilitate community health initiatives, and to assist individual community members with their recovery from the impact of the February 2009 bushfire.

Strathewen Community Invitation - Commemoration of the 2009 Black Saturday Bushfires.

At this time we reflect, remember the loved ones we have lost and connect with family, neighbours and friends.

There will be a small ceremony including the reading of the names.

When: Saturday 7th February 2026

Where: Strathewen Bushfire Memorial

Strathewen Recreation Reserve

Chadds Creek Rd. Strathewen

Time: 5pm - 6.00pm

On Friday the 7th of February we will commemorate the 2009 Black Saturday Bushfires.

The community will observe the commemoration at the Strathewen Memorial from 5:00pm. We will mark the day with a reading of the names of those lost in Strathewen and the laying of floral tributes from the community.

All are welcome to attend and to spend some time catching up together after the reading. Please take some time to check in with family, friends and neighbours at this sensitive time.

Following the winding up of SWAG, the Strathewen Reserve Association and Strathewen Public Hall are taking up organisation of our community social life.
