We look forward to hearing from our guest speaker Sam Luke who is the Hotocuturalist and Manager of Balhanah Nurseries speaking on Fruit trees. Welcome to the Winter Solstice 2026. The shortest day and longest night of the year, but for gardeners, it's time to sharpen your secateurs for the winter pruning of your roses and fruit trees. It's also a reminder to get a plant and loose change ready for this Friday, the 26th, as we gather to try and grab something useful from the raffle.
Our guest speaker is Martin, who works in the field of environmental management and spends a lot of his leisure time photographing the diverse range of plants, fungi, and small creatures we share our world with, and will share some stories about these visitors with us.

Pickup is from Glenbarr caretaker's cottage, 1400b Paris Creek road, Strathalbyn.

Lots of winter veggie seedlings ready to go.
The seeds have been acclimated to this area over a few seasons of saving, meaning you can save the seeds from these veggies.

Our guest speaker Andrew Barker, and founder of Grow Free -an international food sharing program will touch on some permaculture gardening methods used in his food garden and a new business that revolves around healthy food. Bring a plant, bring a mug. Love to see you there.

It’s hard to believe a month has passed, and we’re excited to gather again for plenty of garden-related offerings. This Friday 24th April at 9.45am Strath Neighborhood Centre, Parker Avenue. We will have our regular raffle, sales table, friendly people and a dose of inspiration. This month’s speaker is Helen Welsh from Country Herbals, who grows an impressive range of herbs, including rare varieties used in cooking, medicine, and dyes. With her decades of experience, there’s sure to be plenty to learn. And don’t forget your cup for morning tea!
