We regret to inform that we, the committee, feel it is in everyone's best interest to postpone this year's Heavy Horse Festival of SA until next year in light of the current fuel crisis and ongoing international conflict.

We're sorry to disappoint our competitors and those who were keen to spectate this year. We're hoping that the extra time will give us a chance to build an even better show next year.

Please be aware not all available events are in the program but will be added if entries are received in Nominate. More ridden classes are available and there may be some last minute changes to our exhibitors due to the current petrol crisis.
Keep an eye on our FB page and we'll endevour to open entries very soon.

Please note: All entries will be refunded in the event of a show cancellation if Fuel restrictions or other reasons force it upon us.

Are you an organised people person, who has good communication skills????

We need you.

We’re looking for a ‘volunteer co-ordinator’.

Someone who can collate a list of names, allocate appropriate roles to people, communicate with committee to fill the required tasks.

There are tasks in the lead up, and on the weekend (16/17May)

It’s a very peopley role, so someone who is comfortable with that would be amazing. If this sounds like you, please send us a message.

(Not general volunteers yet- we’ll get to that once we have a co-ordinator).

Calling All Vendors – 16–17 May 2026 🐎 Strathalbyn Polo Grounds

We’re inviting vendors to be part of our upcoming event across two dedicated areas:

Trade Village – saddles, horse equipment, fodder, equine products & services

Food Court – food vans, coffee, drinks & sweet treats

Planning is underway for this years festival to be held in Strathalbyn on 16/17 May.

Questions for potential competitors-

Are you planning on supporting our Ridden ring?

Would you like us to offer dressage?

Hunter trials?

We won’t offer the disciplines if we don’t get numbers to support them.
