⚜ Save on Joining Fee during the week of Founder's Day

πŸŽ‚ Founder's Day is 22 February, celebrating the birthday of Lord Robert Baden-Powell, who founded the Scouting movement in 1907.

πŸ’² We understand what it's like to bring up a family and bills associated with this, that and the other. That's why in week following Founder's Day, 23 February to 1 March, we are offering to waive the $40 joining fee* for new members. It seems like the right thing to do πŸ’š

Ask us more about joining but in the meantime, Come n Try for FREE at the following times:

πŸŸ₯ JOEYS - Monday 6-7pm (5-7yrs)
🟨 CUBS - Tuesday 6-7:30pm (8-11yrs)
🟩 SCOUTS - Friday 6:30-8:30pm (11-14yrs)

Enquire about Venturers (15-18yrs)!

* Other fees that still apply include Annual HQ Fee (which can be zeroed out with SA Sport Vouchers) and term fee for Group, with discounts for multiple children

It feels like forever ago now but the Joeys enjoyed some Halloween food craft a few weeks ago as they prepared to eat and share their spooky treats. πŸŽƒ

Craft and food are always big winners!

Badge swapping is a Scouting tradition that the Strathalbyn Cubs were keen to be a part of. β›Ί

At the 2025 Cuboree: Journey to Adventure over the weekend, the Cubs were able to swap some of the badges they created as a Unit and it certainly was an activity enjoyed by all. πŸ—Ί

Can we do some more badge swapping? (common question from those who had "caught the bug") ❓

Yes! And we managed to swap a badge with Finn from Ascot Park Scout Group, the winner of the competition to design the Cuboree badge logo. What a cool experience for everyone. ❀

And another highlight was sitting down for a trade with "Bin Chicken", MC of the event who also led the campfire songs and more. He was a real hit amongst the Cubs and it made their day to trade with a local celebrity. πŸ‘‘

If you have some badges you'd like to trade, you know where to go!

Strathalbyn Cub Scouts had an amazing time with hundreds of other Cubs at the 2025 Cuboree over the weekend.

Plenty of rain, lots of laughs and some tuckered out young people who will definitely sleep well tonight!

Camping with the College Park and GIlberton Groups, this gave the Cubs a chance to make new friends, extend their comfort zones even more and just have a good adventure with others.

Well done Cubs!

Continuing the theme, the Joeys learned about collecting sticks and kindling to create a fire. We're lucky to have a scrub block to find things in, teaching the Joeys both the valuable lessons of responsible fossicking and where it is safe to build a fire. πŸ”₯

Joeys is for ages 5-7 and it's a great time for to get hands on with the basics. Part of the Scout Method is Learning by Doing, with a big emphasis on the DO component. Who wants to learn about fires without:

🦘 Collecting from nature
🦘 Striking the match
🦘 Enjoying a marshmallow or 5

Capturing one of the last opportunities to do some campfire cooking, the Strathalbyn Scout age group (11-15) met last Friday night to do some work around these Outdoor Adventure Skills:

πŸ”₯ Using a hatchet to cut wood
πŸ”₯ Establishing a campfire for cooking
πŸ”₯ Preparing a meal
πŸ”₯ Using camp ovens to cook damper, beef stew and dumplings

Followed by a campout onsite, some chose to set up tarp shelters, bunk in with mates in patrol tents or go solo in hike tents. Hanging out with mates and building on skills - what a great start to the weekend! β›Ί
