A lucky escape for the occupants of this car and a timely reminder to watch up as you drive, park or walk in high winds. A quick response by SES Stratford members, police and other road users ensured everyone’s safety.

We’d like to wish you a safe and happy 2026.

If your New Year’s resolution was to do something productive to help others, we are ready and waiting. Without volunteers we can’t provide the level of service the local community needs. Volunteers help where and when they can. Uniform provided. Training most Wednesday nights from 7:30 pm. We offer varied experiences, an opportunity to meet new people and learn new skills.

Welcome to summer. Storm warning advice for our area. Some sound safety tips for now and future storm events.

Severe thunderstorms are possible in parts of the state today, Saturday 13 December 2025.

It is difficult to forecast exactly where and when a storm will develop, but this time the risk is statewide, except for the far west and southwest. Storms are most likely in the afternoon and evening, and damaging winds, heavy rainfall and large hail are possible.

The best defence against storms is preparation. Now, you should:
🚗 Park your car undercover and away from trees.
🏠 Clean your gutters, downpipes and drains to ensure they are not blocked.
☂️ Check that loose items such as outdoor furniture, umbrellas and trampolines are safely secured.

There is also a moderate risk of epidemic thunderstorm asthma in Central, North Central, West and South Gippsland and East Gippsland districts. Carry your reliever if you suffer from asthma.

For more information on preparing for storms, go to www.ses.vic.gov.au/storm, and if you need emergency SES assistance, call 132 500.

🌍 2026 ESF Scholarships – Applications Now Open! ✈️
Are you ready to make a difference to Victoria's emergency services sector?

The ESF Scholarship Program, proudly supported by Rotary, gives paid staff and volunteers from ESF member agencies the opportunity to undertake an overseas study tour on a topic they’re passionate about - generating insights and research that strengthen Victoria’s emergency management sector.

This program is about bringing back knowledge that ensures our sector stays ahead in supporting its people.

📚 Recent scholarship holders have travelled to the USA, Edinburgh and Sweden to explore crucial topics such as compassion fatigue, sleep disturbance, moral injury and more. Their findings have helped educate and inform the sector, and their expertise continues to shape how we address these challenges today.

📅 Applications are open now and close Sunday 9 November 2025.

For more information on the scholarship program and how you can apply, visit https://esf.com.au/our-research/esf-scholarships/
