Welcome to summer. Storm warning advice for our area. Some sound safety tips for now and future storm events.
Severe thunderstorms are possible in parts of the state today, Saturday 13 December 2025.
It is difficult to forecast exactly where and when a storm will develop, but this time the risk is statewide, except for the far west and southwest. Storms are most likely in the afternoon and evening, and damaging winds, heavy rainfall and large hail are possible.
The best defence against storms is preparation. Now, you should:
🚗 Park your car undercover and away from trees.
🏠 Clean your gutters, downpipes and drains to ensure they are not blocked.
☂️ Check that loose items such as outdoor furniture, umbrellas and trampolines are safely secured.
There is also a moderate risk of epidemic thunderstorm asthma in Central, North Central, West and South Gippsland and East Gippsland districts. Carry your reliever if you suffer from asthma.
