ASWS Welcome to the ASWS
The Australian Small W**emakers Show (ASWS) is held in Stanthorpe, Queensland’s most respected w**e-producing region.

It was originally established in 1987 by the w**e sub-committee of the Stanthorpe Agricultural Society and has grown to be the most prestigious w**e show for small w**emakers in Australia and New Zealand and one of the fastest-growing shows on the annual w**e circuit. The show is run by a dedicated group of volunteers from all walks of life. They are all interested in the promotion of the Queensland W**e industry and the appreciation of Queensland w**es.

🍷 PUBLIC TASTING ROCKS. JUST SAYING.

The cool kids at Urban List Brisbane have named the Australian Small W**emakers Show one of the top 10 things to do on the Granite Belt. 🫶

And they even mentioned the bus. 🚌🍷

We’re taking that as a pretty good sign that our little celebration of independent w**e is doing something right.

Hundreds of independent producers. A whole lot of seriously good w**e. Good people, good times, and a very good reason to make a weekend of it in Stanthorpe. We’ve also just opened up a few more tickets to the public tasting due to additional demand so get in fast it’s next weekend!

The Australian Small W**emakers Show is built for independent w**emakers — with a class for almost every style and scale.

This year we’re putting a spotlight on two classes that deserve it:

🍷 SMALL BATCH — Class 81
Less than 400L produced. A genuine opportunity for tiny releases, experimental batches and small producers to stand alongside the best.

🍾 INNOVATIVE W**E STYLES — Class 83
Including Pet Nat and Non-Alcoholic W**es. For w**emakers pushing boundaries and making w**es that don’t always fit neatly into traditional show classes.

And across the full schedule — Chardonnay to Shiraz, Italian varieties, blends, sparkling, rosé, fortified (a popular line at the public tasting) and more — there’s a place to benchmark your w**e against your peers and genuinely stand out.

Entries are only $65 and four bottles so go on enter that one that you know is an absolute belter. Because you made it. Right there out the back. And it’s not just your Mum who says it’s a good drop.

🍷 ARE W**E SHOWS DEAD?

Maybe the old-school ones are.

But for an independent small w**emaker, a good w**e show still matters. Not because you need another sticker for the bottle — although, let’s face it, shiny things are nice — but because your w**e deserves to be tasted, judged fairly and put in front of people who actually care about what’s in the bottle.

The Australian Small W**emakers Show was built for exactly that.

Small producers. Independent makers. Real w**es. Proper judging. And a show that understands there’s usually a slightly sleep-deprived human behind every bottle, doing everything from pruning vines to chasing invoices.

We reckon w**e shows should be about encouraging great w**emaking, giving useful recognition and celebrating the people having a crack — not just collecting entry fees.

And yes, this photo is apparently how small w**emakers dry their bottles.

Very technical. Highly sophisticated. Please don’t try this with the trophy winners. 😂🍷

The Australian Small W**emakers Show Public Tasting is back — and tickets are almost sold out.

This isn’t a w**e tasting where someone gives you half a thimble of something expensive and talks about “wet river stones” for 20 minutes.

This is hundreds of w**es from brilliant small Australian producers, one room, one big afternoon, served by local winos and a very sensible plan:

🍷 Taste the w**es.
🍷 Find some new favourites.
🍷 Talk to actual w**e people.
🍷 Leave the car at your accommodation.

Because we’ve got a bus. 🚌

Yep. You can book transport that picks you up from your accommodation front gate and gets you home again, which is perhaps the most important piece of w**e infrastructure ever developed.

Come for the w**e from all over Australia then go out and compare it to our w**e made right here in Queensland. See how we stack up. Wander a little. Eat too much. Climb a big rock or two. Swim in a Rockpool. Look at some stars. Stay another night. Pat a kangaroo.
