ASWS Welcome to the ASWS
The Australian Small Winemakers Show (ASWS) is held in Stanthorpe, Queensland’s most respected wine-producing region.

It was originally established in 1987 by the wine sub-committee of the Stanthorpe Agricultural Society and has grown to be the most prestigious wine show for small winemakers in Australia and New Zealand and one of the fastest-growing shows on the annual wine circuit. The show is run by a dedicated group of volunteers from all walks of life. They are all interested in the promotion of the Queensland Wine industry and the appreciation of Queensland wines.

Local businesses. Local people. A national show.

We’re proud to have some fantastic national sponsors behind the Australian Small Winemakers Show — but this year, we want to shine a special light on the local businesses that help make the show what it is.

The ASWS has been part of the Granite Belt for 40 years. It’s grown into a nationally recognised wine event, but at its heart, it is still a local show, run by local people.

Around 50 local volunteers give their time to make the weekend happen. From setting up, judging and pouring, to welcoming visitors, exhibitors and judges to the region and helping behind the scenes. At the ASWS Public Tasting, the person pouring your wine could well be your neighbour, a local business owner, a winemaker or someone who has volunteered for years.

And that matters.

Because when you ask about a wine, you’re not just talking to someone who has been handed a bottle and a script. You’re talking to people who know and love truly independent wine from regions all around the country, but also know the Granite Belt and genuinely care about the region as a future wine Mecca.

This year, as we celebrate 40 years, we want to showcase the businesses that have supported this community along the way.

Local businesses. Local volunteers. Small independent winemakers. One great Granite Belt tradition.

If you’re a local business and would like to get behind the 40th Australian Small Winemakers Show, we’d love to have you involved and the cost is less than a pub lunch for two.

🍇 THEY’RE STILL GROWING. LET’S BACK THEM.

It’s a tough time for Australian wine. Costs are up, markets are changing and small wineries are doing it harder than ever.

But here’s the thing…

The little guys are still planting, pruning, picking, experimenting and making bloody good wine. 🍷

And the response to this year’s Australian Small Winemakers Show is already showing it — exhibitor entries are up on last year.

These are the winemakers who make our regions interesting. They employ locally, buy locally, support tourism and keep the Australian wine story alive.

Now it’s our turn to support them.

We’re making one final call to industry partners and sponsors who want to get behind the people doing the hard yards — and help us put small winemakers in the spotlight.

If your business wants to support Australian wine, this is a pretty good place to start.
